Great Deal On Used Wireless!Good Sound Studio recently finished the high school musical season and let me just say; It Was The Best One Yet! Each and every year the demand for our equipment and services during this season grows considerably. And every year we are forced to add wireless microphones to our inventory. The good news for you is that we don't need the amount of equipment that we are left with after the season is over so we are able to offer some great deals to local customers on some fantastic products. Here is your chance! We use Audio Technica wireless microphones almost exclusively and because we are a dealer, we can pass along some great savings on very slightly used equipment. Of course we maintain excellent care of all of our inventory so you can be assured that you are getting gear in fantastic condition. Many of these systems may have been used only once. We have 2000 series and 3000 series systems that can come with your choice of lavalier, long boom earpieces and short boom earpieces. These microphone systems are a great addition to any church or school sound system and offer the flexibility and convenience that come with not being tethered with a cord. Finally that drama production that your youth perform every year can be heard by everyone! Give us a call at 888-346-0085 ext 1 to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity .

What Did They Say? Volume vs EQ
How many times have you been sitting at a service or an event and couldn't understand what the pastor was saying or what the singer was singing? If you are like me, you know how frustrating that can be and how quickly it can ruin your experience. How many times have you said, " I wish the sound guy would turn it up"? Well volume unfortunately isn't always the answer. Let's face it, bad sound turned up is just louder bad sound!
But the good news is if your the sound guy and people are complaining that they can't hear or understand what is going on, you have some other options available that can improve the sound drastically and not blow away the people sitting near the front. There is a very good chance that some simple EQ adjustments will do the trick.
Far too often I see less experienced sound technicians make the tragic mistake of adding too much low end to their vocal channels. They think that everything needs lots of low end to sound good when in fact vocals need very little to none at all. Low end and low mid frequencies tend to muddy up spoken word and make it unintelligible. I often see these frequencies on the vocal channels turned up which can be a huge mistake. A great rule of thumb for adjusting EQ is always cut before you boost. So here is a good tip to clean up those vocals without turning up the volume and busting everyone's eardrums.
If your vocals don't sound clear, flatten out your EQ for that channel. Start with a clean slate so you aren't trying to compensate for bad adjustments made in other frequency areas. Now if you have the ability to select specific frequencies (sweepable mids on analog boards or parametric EQ on digital boards), start slowly cutting some low mid frequency around 250-400 Hz. You should immediately notice the sound becoming more and more clear. This is because that range can tend to make vocals sound muddy. But be careful, too much and your sound will become very thin and lifeless. This is also the range that can add warmth and body to your vocals so proceed with caution. Also the range around 2-5KHz can help clear things up because this is where we get the presence and intelligibility of speech. But it is always a good idea to cut before boosting so try taking away some of the low end first, and then sit back and enjoy the compliments bestowed upon you by everyone in the audience for being such an amazing sound technician!
