The members of Neotronic include Sutton resident Bo McMillion (guitar/vocal), Rob Masten (sax/vocal), Chris Newsom (drums), Neotronic is an eclectic mix of electronica, loops, reggae, latin, jazz, and jam styles.

Shane Meade is a gifted singer songwriter and catalyst behind the soul-infused, rock jazz project Shane Meade & the Sound. His music captivates the imagination, and audiences connect to his inspirational lyrics and universal subject matter. His unique and soulful style helps deliver an engaging live performance that is both powerful and uplifting.

Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. Music begins at 7 p.m.

That Dam Race 5k


Saturday, July 19th
 
Race begins at 8 a.m. 
Registration begins at 7 a.m.
 
The 6th annual That Dam Race 5K walk/run is held in Sutton, West Virginia at the Sutton Dam. The course begins under the backdrop of the magnificent Sutton Dam at the Downstream Recreation Area. Participants then have a strenuous climb up hill to and then across the top of the dam. The course takes runners on a trip through the woods and down to the Elk River. Participants then hit the brick paved streets of historic downtown Sutton past many beautiful, historic buildings. The finish line is nearly in sight as participants head back up river with the dam in the distance. The race ends back at the Downstream Recreation Area where it began. After the 5k we will have that Darn Race for children 8 years and younger. No cost to participate, so make sure to bring the family!

most unique courses in the region!
 
Registration is $25, the first 100 registered runners get a free event T-shirt.
 
The proceeds of this years Dam Race will go to 
Braxton area Back Pack programs.

From I-79, take Exit 62 Sutton/Gassaway. Turn left on route 4, approximately 2 miles into Sutton. Turn right onto 2nd Street, cross the bridge over Elk River and turn left toward the dam on Stonewall Rd. Keep left until you find yourself at the Sutton Dam.

FREE Sutton Dam Tour



July 19th 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Enjoy a fascinating and informative Sutton Dam tour. Discover the inner workings of the Sutton Dam and what it takes to keep it up and running. Tours will be conducted by the Army Corps of Engineers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All visitors over 16 years old need to have a photo ID. No cameras, cell phones, or handbags can be taken into the dam. Your tour will last around 45 minutes and will require walking stairs (accommodations can be made for wheelchairs). Pre-registration is recommended to be sure you get your spot on a tour but it is not mandatory.

Directions

 

From I-79, take Exit 62 Sutton/Gassaway. Turn left on route 4, drive approximately 2 miles into Sutton. Turn right onto 2nd Street, cross the bridge over the Elk River and turn left toward the Dam on Stonewall Rd. Pass Appalachian Timber Service and turn left after crossing small bridge. Take right turn ahead to the top of the dam where tours will begin.

 

Elk River Canoe and Kayak Float!

 
Saturday, July 19th at 1 p.m. 
 
Join us at the Sutton Dam in Sutton, WV for the second annual Elk River Float! The float will begin at the Sutton Dam and end at the Gassaway Dairy Queen. The float is about 5 miles long and will take 2-3 hours to complete. Microtel and Days Hotel are offering a discounted room rate to float participants. Details below. The float is free and open to the public.
 
 
NEW THIS YEAR!

A bus will be provided to shuttle participants prior to the float. 
No need to bring two vehicles or to orchestrate 
complicated pick-up plans! Here's how:
 
1. Come to the Sutton Dam.
 
2. Drop off your canoe or kayak. 
 
3. Drive to Gassaway to park. 
Parking details below with directions.
 
4. Board the shuttle bus at the Church of Christ, 742 Elk Street. The shuttle will depart from the Church of Christ at 12:45 p.m. If more trips are required after the 12:45 p.m. shuttle, the bus will return for as many trips as necessary.
 
5. Float the beautiful Elk River at whatever pace you like to the 
Gassaway Dairy Queen, where you'll find your car
 waiting for you as well as a
FREE DQ Mini Blizzard!

Sutton Dam (Start)

From I-79, take Exit 62 Sutton/Gassaway. Turn left on route 4, approximately 2 miles into Sutton. Turn right onto 2nd Street, cross the bridge over the Elk River and turn left toward the Dam on Stonewall Rd. Keep left until you find yourself at the Sutton Dam. Unload boats at the round about. After unloading boats, park in near-by parking lot.

Gassaway (Finish)

From Dam: When leaving Sutton, go west on Main Street. At the Y intersection go left toward Gassaway on Route 4. Stay on route 4 into Gassaway. Parking available at Church of Christ, Gassaway DQ, and Premier Bank. 
 
The Church of Christ is located at 742 Elk Street. 
The shuttle will pick up participants and depart at 12:45 p.m. Parking also available at the Dairy Queen, Elk River Water Trail site, located at 99 N Elk Street. Be sure to park in the ERWT lot near the river and not in the DQ customer parking. If the ERWT or the Church of Christ lot would become full, 
park in any public road side parking that is available or in the Premier Bank parking lot just a little further into Gassaway at 700 Elk Street.
