West Virginia Symphony Orchestra scheduled to play at Days Hotel
in Sutton
The WVSO and Artistic Director Grant Cooper bring the sounds of the symphony to Braxton County on March 23, 2013.
The concert will be held at the Days Hotel in Sutton and starts at 7pm. The concert is free and open to the public.
Joining the Orchestra for this performance is soloist and Astral Artist Kristen Lee. THe program consists of Mozart's Violin Concerto K 218 in D and Mendelssohn's Symphony #3 (Scottish).
"The WVSO looks forward every season to performing throughout the state," says WVSO President David Gross. "By entering West Virginia communities outside our Charleston home, we hope to not only highlight the orchestra, but the many fantastic cultural resources in our host communities. We are grateful for the enthusiasm of the sponsors, venues and local audiences that allow the WVSO to showcase the best that West Virginia has to offer. Our desire is to facilitate a state-wide appreciation of the arts, allowing the WVSO to serve its role as the orchestra for all West Virginians."
This is second time the WVSO has visited Braxton County. Last year's concert drew over 400 people, many hearing the WVSO for the first time.
The WVSO Statewide Touring Program is sponsored in part by the Daywood Foundation, Herscher Foundation, Jacobson Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and Jim and Keith Straw.
