"That Dam Race" 5K walk/Run
Sutton Dam Recreation Area
$20 Entry Fee
Registration begins at 7am
Race Starts at 8am
For fifty years the Sutton Dam has been a tourist attraction for Braxton County. "That Dam Race" helps to carry on that legacy by inviting runners and walkers from all over to participate in one of the toughest road climbs you will make in West Virginia. The course begins under the backdrop of the magnificent Sutton Dam at the Downstream Recreation Area. Participants then have a strenuous climb up the face of the dam and then across the top. The course then takes participants on a trip through the woods and back down the Elk River. Participants hit the brick paved streets of historic downtown Sutton. The finish line is nearly in sight as participants head back up the river with the dam in the distance. Participants of the race are offered a tour of Sutton that few get the pleasure of seeing; it is sure to excite the senses as well as challenge your physicality. This is sure to be the toughest and most unique course in the area. The race is scheduled for July 21, 2012 with registration starting at 7:00 am and the race starting at 8:00 am. Preregistration is available online at the Braxton CVB website (www.braxtonwv.org) and "That Dam Race website (www.thatdamrace5k.com). Recently the race committee held a logo contest in which a local Braxton County High School student ,Kera Kearns won after receiving the most votes via our Facebook pages. Her winning artwork will be featured on this year's race t-shirt.
