Graduate Studies and Gender Scholarship
 Friday October 4, 2:00-3:30 pm

University of Calgary main campus, SS729

Open workshop facilitated by Grace Lore and Kelsey Wrightson

Join Kelsey Wrightson and Grace Lore, PhD students in UBC's Department of Political Science and Research Associates for the pro-democracy website, womensuffrage.org at  the Institute for Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice, for a discussion of their sometimes tumultuous relationship with feminism and graduate studies.  They will discuss  the struggle to keep academic projects rooted in real-world feminist issues and to honour feminist scholarship even as they are often the only women  and the most junior scholars in the room. The talk will include opportunities to workshop the challenges of doing gender-informed and feminist-based scholarship.

Pre-registration is kindly requested. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.
