Helpful Hints For Braking in the Rain with ABS Brakes

The snow is finally behind us but that doesn't mean there aren't other dangerous weather related road conditions to deal with. here's a tip to prevent hydroplaning.

Tip: If you find yourself hydroplaning, it is important to not take any sudden or jerky actions. Ease off the gas and keep the steering wheel pointed straight. If braking is needed, don't brake too strongly. Instead, apply normal brake pressure, and let your ABS system bring you to a safe halt.

Spring Maintenance Tip

Winter ice and spring potholes can do a number on any vehicle. Now is a good time to have your vehicle inspected top to bottom: hoses, belts, tires and battery. It may save a call to us when you break down!

Quote of the Month

"Quality isn't expensive, it's priceless."

Training

Training is key here at Nick's Towing Service. Our drivers attend numerous training courses throughout the year. Two of our men, Kevin and Jeff went to a Wreckmaster course this month with the new Freightliner medium duty truck. It is an all day intensive course that entails both hands on training and class work with a written examination at the end.

We Are A Proud Members Of These Fine Organizations

It might not feel like it just yet, but spring is officially here! Winter never lasts forever, even if it seems that way sometimes. We're looking forward to warmer weather, and we hope you are, too

This issue has some important tips on driving in the spring. A good quick read even for those of us that are considered 'experts'. We've also highlighted an interesting job Tommy did recently and want to introduce you to the newest member of the NTS team, truck #96.

As you make that list of spring cleanup projects keep us in mind. We can help make that "to do" list "ta done"!

Sincerely,
Nick Testa

Piano Move In NYC
Living in Manhattan can be a real challenge! This apartment building was condemned when it was knocked off it's foundation by a demolition company taking down the building next door. Everyone was forced to move. This move was made increasingly more difficult with a broken elevator shaft in the building. We were called in to move a piano from a 3rd floor apartment. It was taken out a window, onto scaffolding, where we were able to strap and hook onto it with our rotator. It was lowered down to the ground for an awaiting moving truck to load it and head out.
You can really appreciate the talent of our men when you consider the wide range of jobs they encounter each week.
Kudos to Tommy for another great job!

New Medium Duty Tow Truck Makes It's Debut
A Great Addition To The NTS Fleet

We purchased a new medium duty tow truck and took delivery of it over the winter. It was such a hectic few months we didn't get the opportunity to give it a proper "welcome". It hit the road running and we couldn't be more pleased. The truck is a Freightliner M2 with a Century 3212 wrecker body. Built by Jim Powers at Elizabeth Truck Center. If you see it on the road be sure and say hello. Chances are it's JT behind the wheel.

Facebook Fun
We hit 2,000 "likes" this month. We invite you to come & check out all the fun that's been happening here at NTS.
