Time. No more chemo? Future treatments for cancerous tumors may no longer require chemotherapy or radiation. This article examines a pair of studies for imatinib, a new type of anti-cancer drug. Cancer deaths in the US have dropped 20% in the past 2 decades, and improvements continue to progress. Right now, it looks as though molecularly targeted therapy might be the new big thing. Reuters. While most republican officials are against Obamacare, some republican governors are breaking ranks and supporting the Medicaid portion of the new health law. Governor John Kasich from Ohio is stating moral obligations to help the poor as his reason for supporting Medicaid, while republican governors from Arizona and Michigan are also supporting it. Kaiser Health News. The state of California has fined the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan for delaying treatment for patients requiring mental health care. The California Department of Managed Health Care is requiring Kaiser to pay a $4M penalty, the second-largest in the state's history. (6/26) Full Story
