HealthDay. New research indicates that men who are physically fit in their 40's, 50's, and 60's are less likely to develop cancer later in life. Men who were most fit were 68% less likely to develop lung cancer, 38% less likely to develop colorectal cancer, and overall less likely to die from prostate cancer. (Doheny, 5/16) Full Story

CNN. The Institute of Medicine released a report that questions current guidelines on salt consumption. While the study found that lowering salt intake from very high levels to moderate levels improved health, drastically cutting salt intake too much increased the risk of health problems. USA Today. Walgreens and CVS Caremark have extended their agreement for Walgreens to continue to fill prescriptions for people who use CVS Caremark for their drug benefits. Details of the multi-year agreement haven't been released. (5/13) Full Story

Time. Researchers from the Massachusetts General Hospital found that combining the drugs teriparatide and denosumab improved bone density in post-menopausal women better than either one of the drugs alone. (Sifferlin, 5/16) Full Story

Reuters. For a long time, doctors have been prescribing the same chemotherapy for all cancers. New tools are now allowing doctors to determine whether the treatment can be targeted, or whether chemotherapy is even necessary. (Beasley, 15) Full Story
