Reuters.  To rein in the cost of Medicare, a $600B program, President Obama has announced that he would "reduce taxpayer subsidies to prescription drug companies."  His administration explained this to mean it would "[require] pharmaceutical manufacturers to offer rebates on drugs for 10M people known as 'dual eligibles' because they qualify for Medicare and Medicaid," thereby trimming 2-7% of pharmaceutical companies' profits.  The proposal is likely to have both many supporters and opponents.   (Berkrot, Morgan, 2/13)   Full Story
