Health Policy Matters
ReutersEurope has approved the western world's first gene therapy drug.  The drug will help people with LPHD.  Between 1-2 people out of every million have LPHD, and the disease makes them unable to handle fat particles in their blood and puts them at risk of potentially fatal inflammation of the pancreas.  The drug costs $1.6M per patient and restores natural body function.  (Hirschler, 11/2)  Full Story
