What is giveBIG?

GiveBIG is a one-day online
echaritable giving event,  inspiring people to give generously to the nonprofit organizations that make our region a healthier and more vital place to live.

Each donation up to $5,000 per donor, per organization, made to the 1,600 nonprofit organizations profiled on The Seattle Foundation's website between midnight and midnight Pacific Time on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, will receive a prorated portion of The Seattle Foundation's matching funds, or "stretch pool."

The amount of the "stretch" depends on how much is raised in total donations on GiveBIG day. As long as you have access to the web, you can participate!

Make your donation between midnight and midnight using this link and you can stretch your donation.

Win A Golden Ticket!

Throughout GiveBIG day, donors will be chosen at random to win golden tickets, providing an additional $1,000 in the winner's name to the nonprofit that received their original donation. The winner will also receive a $100 Starbucks or Taco Time gift card! And, we'll also be giving away airline tickets to nonprofits throughout the day, courtesy of Alaska Airlines!

Northshore Schools Foundation is a proud partner of the Northshore Community Schools
Partnership.

We work in partnership with other community partners to achieve the following goals:
  • Families are engaged to support their child's full potential.
  • Students are on track for graduation and building a plan for college and career.
  • Students and families have opportunities to pursue their interests.
  • Community and school are interconnected.
Foundation supporters have allowed us to fund more than $25,000 for these important programs.

Later this month, the Foundation would like to sponsor 100 students from Hang Time programs to visit Cascadia and UW Bothell.

"I want to be a pilot but I didn't think I would attend college until Hang Time took me a field trip and introduced me to Cascadia and other local colleges.  Now I am excited to attend college... I am going to work on my homework and my classes and make sure I don't fail any of them so I can continue to pursue the dreams of my future." - Bainbridge T at the 2013 Light A Fire for Learning Luncheon.

College visits remove barriers for students who may never have considered college as an option.  Removing the mystery about what college is really like by walking on campus, visiting classrooms and seeing students makes the possibility of attending college seem more real.  For some students, like Bainbridge, visiting campus can be just the inspiration they need to get focused on their school work, set academic goals and engage in a college readiness plan.

Your GiveBIG donation of $8.50 will fund one student to make this important visit to college and to open up the possibility of college for a struggling learner.

Will you sponsor a student for this college campus visit today?

Hang Time provides career guidance and opportunities to help junior high school students focus on their future and their careers by providing; tutoring, counseling, exercise and life-skills programs after school. It also provides support, self motivation, and direction for students who otherwise might not connect junior high student achievement with career goals and future success in life.

Hear from 2013 Luncheon speakers; Anthony, Bainbridge and Cristian while they tell you what a difference Hang Time made in their lives
