Focus on Teacher Excellence II
December 2012
Greetings!

In 2012 the Foundation changed its mission to include ....

"in alignment with district priorities."

Supporting Teacher excellence and National Board Teacher Certification supports School Board Goals:

2.1 Increase the capacity and utilization of effective instructional practice

2.2 Increase the number of National Board Certified teachers

Thank you for your support of teachers, your school district and the Foundation!

Teacher Excellence - It's a good investment!

A growing body of research verifies instructional practices associated with higher levels of student achievement. Increasing the use of these research-based strategies will better support student achievement and success.

National Board Certification is positively associated with higher levels of student achievement.

A 2012 Harvard study found that students with the highest quality teachers were more likely to enroll in college and get better jobs!

"Over that 31 years,
we are looking at about

400 hours????

On average, NBC candidates spend more than 400 hours throughout the school year putting together their submission package to apply for National Board Certification. In 2012, the Foundation extended funding that would provide candidates with one paid day off in support of pursuing their excellence.

Funding for this initiative is dependent upon funds raised. Help us continue to support teachers in this way.
