Story of the Week
Fresno HomeTown Trip
Greetings!
"We traveled to Edison and Clovis this morning for prayer over the schools and to help Edison hang up posters for the rallies this week. When we returned, Michelle gave us a great devotional from Philippians 2:1-11, reminding us of the importance of having a mind set on Christ. This comes from modeling the example we see from Christ's humility and obedience to the Father.

Students at the Edison High Rally
|
At lunchtime we supported Edison High School at their first rally of the week. Their outreach week is based around the question "I know Him, do you?" Club President Rachel Cooper says, "I just want to be heard on our campus" throughout the week's events. Their desire is for their fellow peers to understand the importance of knowing Christ and living for Him. The student leaders ushered in about 110 of their peers
into the little theater offering them pizza and a response card for the end of the event.
Their first speaker, Mitch Redondo, spoke about the idea of finding love in God rather than the world. He talked about how the world's idea of love is equivalent to a python suffocating its prey. He brought out a real python for the students to see and talked about how love from the world takes away the joy of life. Mitch did a wonderful job of bringing the students to a stark reality of the pressures and temptations of this world and how they can really turn from the importance of this life.
After school, Edison student leaders, Rachel, Erin, Valisha, and Tanner, with the CSP team, personally shared their faith with their peers around their campus.
Our team approach over 60 people and shared the good news of Jesus with almost 50 of them. Praise God that we were able to share with this many people. As we debriefed from the day with the students, many of the students were able to offer good advice to each other about how to take the passion and energy they feel while doing outreach events and not let that passion die out after the week ends. Tanner said it best when he said, "We have potential; we just haven't utilized it yet." The rest of the team readily agreed and talked about the importance of keeping the momentum up even when the week is over. It was such a blessing to see the students not only excited and pumped about the rest of the week, but taking time to evaluate each day and look at the bigger picture and not forget that it is a life-long journey to share the good news of Jesus with others."

Team Freno is seeking out prayer for the following requests:
For the rallies this week at Edison, Clovis, and Sunnyside High
For the students to be bold in sharing their faith
For God to come mightily in Fresno and make a lasting impact
For our team leader Jess; He is feeling under the weather and wasn't able to join us yesterday so pray for speedy recovery and that no one else gets sick.
