Story of the Week

Meet the Interns

Greetings!

They do the behind the scenes work of planning and mentoring. They make our CSP staff members look good. They are the CSP interns. Check out what God is teaching these three Biola seniors as they work for the Gospel.

Jon, a La Mirada local, serves CSP in two capacities: as a cluster leader and as a Campus Ministry intern. He takes charge of several projects, including connecting high schools to CSP and planning the two recent Go Conferences.

  Jon Mestas

Jon's passion for witnessing is what first drew him to this ministry. He is looking forward to more frequent witnessing trips this semester. Right now God is teaching him that consistency really matters. "I am working on being a good example. But I'm realizing that just because I'm a leader, it doesn't make me perfect."

Pray for Jon that God gives him the strength to accomplish all his responsibilities and to be an encouragement to others.

The HomeTown team has two Student Directors who complement each other well:

Emma N

Emma, a lover of country music, comes from Lodi, a small town surrounded by orchards and vineyards in northern California. In 2009 she led a HomeTown Trip to her own town, and now as an intern, Emma oversees HomeTown Trips, writes curriculum for leaders, and tries to figure out what it looks like to do local ministry from a distance. "I have a heart for short-term local mission trips, so HomeTown seemed like a really cool option for me."

Emma has been encouraged by the CSP team's dedication to the Lord. "What I am learning most is to not do things on my own strength. As a team we are learning what it looks like to abide in Christ and how we are not able to do fruitful ministry without the Lord. It's been challenging, but it's a good base for each day, for each 1 on 1 with a student, for each meeting."

Pray for Emma that God would continue to guide her path in giving her wisdom for this year and after as she graduates and listens to God's calling of what ministry should look like for her.

Pray also for healthy relationships and strong mentoring partnerships.

Taylor Witcher-PageTaylor, also known as T.W.P. or "tee-dubs", has previously been a cluster leader, worked in the CSP office and participated in five HomeTown Trips. She now wears many hats for HomeTown as she develops curriculum, mentors HomeTown leaders, and helps troubleshoot training for leaders. She says she has to balance building HomeTown as a lasting ministry and building up the trips going soon.

Taylor loved CSP upon first hearing about it. "I was thinking wow, I wish I could have done this at my high school... I didn't even know it was possible!" Hometown trip grabbed her attention from the start. Despite getting all the work there is to do, Taylor has seen God at work when He gives her the strength to continue her job. She is graduating as a psychology major in December.

Taylor asked that we pray that HomeTown as a whole would have the wisdom to create good training and enable the HomeTown leaders to lead good trips.

Pray for the 8-person Fresno team going to four different high schools in January.
