Treasure Hunting
Do you use seminars as a marketing tool for your business? Your audience is not there to see you. This is a fact and if you
rem ember it you will be much more relaxed in your presentation. Your audience is there to learn something new. They are not as concerned with the presentation as with what is being presented.
Whether you are doing a seminar or writing a blog your goal should be to deliver useful information that the audience can use for their own development. They want to hear something new and exciting, not a rehash of the same old stuff. Many of your attendees at a seminar have traveled a long way in the anticipation that they will find a treasure before the end of the day. You owe it to them to be well prepared with the treasures that they are seeking.
You should not be pitching your products or services; you can reserve them for a side table that your audience can visit before and after the presentation. Your credentials can be presented as part of your introduction and not mentioned again until your closing.
Sharing great content, information and tools should be your only goal. If your ideas are useful and practical you will establish yourself as an expert; if not you have just cut off an important channel for your own company.
Your audience will be receptive and satisfied if your deliver meaningful content, maybe with a little humor, share your experiences, and honor them with information that is practical and useful.
