Ask for Referrals
The absolutely best way to get more business is to ask for referrals.
People like to do business with vendors who they know and trust. If a current, happy customer suggests to a friend that they shou ld try XYZ Company, there is a good chance that they will. The potential customer knows that their friend would not steer them wrong.
This referral is the first and best step to creating a good customer; you don't have to build rapport, which was done for you by the referral. You next challenge is to deliver the best possible customer service experience in order to cement the relationship.
If you know who gave you the thumbs up, it is important that you send them some kind of recognition. A simple hand written thank you note may do the trick, but a coupon for a discount or gift on their next visit will have even more power. Avoid sending a computer generated thank you if you haven't attached a coupon it won't appear personal enough.
Think of the last time you got a personal thank you note, either from a friend or a business; didn't it give you a warm feeling? Your cu stomer will experience the same thing and be eager to tell more of their friends. These referrals will snowball and you will have a whole new customer base.
Just remember to always ask for referrals, this is a key strategy to building your business.
