THEY WILL BE PLACED ON THEIR BUS TO GO HOME
DO NOT PARK IN THE NEIGHBORING BUSINESS PARKING LOTS - STUDENTS ARE NOT TO WALK ACROSS THE DRIVEWAY BETWEEN BUSES - DO NOT PARK ON FIVE MILE LINE ROAD IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL FOR PICK-UP!
STUDENTS RELEASED FOR EARLY DISMISSAL MUST BE PICKED UP AND SIGNED OUT AT THE MAIN OFFICE - THEY MUST BRING A NOTE IN TO THE MAIN OFFICE IN THE MORNING AND GIVE IT TO MRS. MOODY - SHE WILL THEN GIVE THEM A PASS TO BE RELEASED FROM CLASS AT THE TIME OF THEIR EARLY DEPARTURE

If one car at a time stops at the beginning of the circle or even right in front of the front door it congests and backs up buses and other parents.
Thank you for following these rules and keeping everyone safe. Thank you.

Nurse's Update
Welcome to the middle of the winter blues. Do yourself a favor - even if it is cold outside, take a walk with your child and get some fresh air. If possible, do that during the middle of the day - getting some sunshine (when it shines) to soak in through any exposed skin. Encourage your children to play outside, sledding, ice skating, skiing or snowshoeing. We will be doing the same thing here during recess. Please make sure your child has appropriate outdoor clothing for playing in the snow during this very important time of the day!
We are getting ready to launch into Spring sports - hard to believe we are that place in the school year! Here is a gentle reminder that if your child wants to play spring sports, you will need to complete a new "Sports Permission Form" for Spring 2015. This cannot be filled out until 1 month ahead of the beginning of a particular sport. Dates for sports are March 9 for Softball and Baseball. March 16th will launch track. Consequently, please access the sports permission forms (on the Finney Website - Under Parents tab, drop down to Nurses office, forms. Also available under Athletics) after our February break and get them to me. We will continue to use a "clearance card" for every athlete. This means that your child MUST bring completed form to my office, have an active physical (done within the last 12 months) on file and form signed. I will present a card to the child, which he/she is responsible for giving to coach before being able to practice. No card, no playing!
NYS is hoping that the number of flu cases are dropping as I write this. Please continue to encourage your children to wash their hands, cover their coughs and stay home if ill. Prayerfully we will continue to have a healthy mid-winter/early spring.
Mrs. Sue Wilson, R.N.

It's Time to Donate to...
The Finney Library BOOK DRIVE!
Yes! It's almost spring...time to clean out bookshelves, drawers, and closets and donate to our library. Here's what we need:
--Gently used books, DVDs, magazines, posters & maps;
--Also, small toys and stuffed animals for our reading incentive program (think McDonald's toys, matchbox cars, beanie babies, play jewelry, cards, etc.)
--Stickers!
Here's what we CANNOT use (but thank you anyway): VHS, textbooks, cassettes. Any books we cannot use on our shelves, will be sold at a future book sale with proceeds to benefit the library.
A Book Drive bin will be located outside the Finney main office throughout the month of February. Please drop off your books and donations there!

From the President
Dear Finney Family,
It was my privilege to share with the community at the Praise and Worship night at Finney last week about God's unwavering hand of provision on our behalf. This unsolicited gift was the result of a donor who was obedient to God's prompting. When we are faithful to act on God's behalf, blessings follow.
In case you have not heard by now, The Charles Finney School received an unprecedented capital gift of $300,000 to support the renovation of the campus. This transformational gift will be become part of the capital fundraising campaign and will help to leverage additional support from parents, alumni, foundations, businesses and community members. In the coming weeks, we will host a meeting to discuss, in more detail, the campus renovation plan.
In the meantime, we ask for your continued prayers for The Charles Finney School and the leadership as they discern the Lord's will on how to best use these funds. There is no shortage of projects that these funds could support. It is our desire to reveal the plan in the coming weeks.
These are exciting times for our school. Whether you are a current or past parent, friend of Finney or someone who is just getting to know us we hope you will share our excitement by telling your friends and family this wonderful news.
Mr. Michael VanLeeuwen
President

From the High School Principal
It is hard to believe we are half way through the year! We had more students start at the beginning of January. This brings our high school enrollment to 138 students!
The SAT review class is being offered during the school day again this year. This change has given more students the opportunity to participate!
During the week of January 12th, I spoke with all the juniors about their PSAT scores. The summary report was sent home. I encouraged students to visit www.collegeboard.org/quickstart and use his/her personal Online Access Code to: * see correct answers and explanations * get a personalized SAT study plan * search for colleges * explore majors and careers * learn more about scholarship programs * see what AP courses he/she may be ready for
You may also check www.collegeboard.com for SAT testing dates and information.
Upcoming Dates: *2/16-20 School Closed - Presidents' Day & Winter Break *2/25 Mid-Quarter 3
Blessings for a great month!
Mrs. Aimee Lyon
High School Principal

From The K-8 Principal
With the second semester under way, I want to thank everyone for your continued support of our students, teachers, and school as we collectively strive to provide optimal opportunities for learning each and every day. In addition, I want to also welcome our new families to Finney and trust that you will find yourselves to part of an outstanding and supportive learning community.
Report cards help to summarize the student's progress for both the student and their parents. The teacher's message makes the report card personal. It is one means of maintaining communication and a good working relationship between home and school. From the written comments, parents can determine the school's concern for their child. Most teacher comments contain suggestions and examples covering a wide variety of classroom situations. It is hoped that the suggestions given in the report cards can be used as a guide for goal setting and focus. The messages are intended for a starting point; please contact your child's teacher if you would like further clarification or suggestions for ways to help in the future.
Upcoming Events - Friday Feb. 13th Faculty Valentine's Luncheon - M-F Feb. 16-20 School Closed - Wednesday Feb. 25 Mid Quarter 3
Next Coffee Get Together 2/4, 9-10 am.
Blessings,
Mrs. Yvonne Paganelli
K-8 Principal

United Way Campaign
|
Development Office Update
Thank you to all the parents who have made their gift to the Annual Fund, attended the January Parent Coffee and Praise and Worship Celebration. Your support, feedback and prayers are critically important to being the leader in K-12 Christian education distinguished by excellence in program quality and student success.
We all know that exciting news travels quickly so by now you may have heard that an anonymous donor has made an unprecedented gift of $300,000 to The Charles Finney School. In the coming weeks and months you will learn more about the capital improvement plan, the fundraising campaign, and how you can get involved. This is a very exciting time in the history of The Charles Finney School. We give all the honor and glory to God for this gift of historic magnitude.
Because of our focus on leveraging additional support to renovate the school's campus, the Spring Auction, scheduled for Friday, April 17, is on hold. We are in the midst of exploring other possible fundraising and community building events. More will follow about this as the year progresses.
Spring is when the United Way will begin its annual campaign. If your employer participates in the United Way of Greater Rochester Campaign, consider designating your gift to Finney. Use the United Way Designation Form and indicate Charles Finney Corporate High School donor designation number 2564.
We are still $100,000 from meeting this year's Annual Fund goal. We need the support of our entire community. Prayerfully consider how the Lord would like you to support the needs of The Charles Finney School and then take a step in faith. God always honors the work of the faithful!
Thank you for your support of The CharlesSchool. We value your commitment to Christian education!
Serving in Christ,
Mrs. Sheila Roman
Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Elementary Parents: Your help is needed!
It's the time of year when we get to be a blessing to the people who teach and support our children! And we need the help of each elementary family to make this event a success!
The annual faculty/staff Valentine's Luncheon, sponsored by the elementary school families, is coming up on Friday, February 13th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. How can you be involved? Donate some fresh fruit for a fruit salad; make a delicious dessert for that day; donate money to cover the cost of the main dish; help set up or clean up the day of the luncheon.
Please respond to the e-mail sent to you by your Parent Communications Rep, or click here to complete an online volunteer form on the SignUpGenius website. Questions? Contact Sue Ball at [email protected].
Thank you for making the effort to appreciate our teachers and staff!
Please register your REDcard online. Finney will get a percentage back. Use Finney School ID: 22758
SCHOOLMALL.COM
The holidays are fast approaching. While you are shopping on-line, please remember Finney's fundraising program called "School Mall". The ONLY thing you need to do is go to www.schoolmall.com and enter our school name in the box before ordering from your favorite on-line store. This fundraiser is easy and has great potential to help the school financially. Some of the vendors include familiar stores:Kohl's, WalMart, Target, iTunes, Best Buy, Sears, Netflix, Barnes & Noble, Old Navy. We earned about $500 dollars last year with no additional effort by our already busy volunteers. We could raise $1,000's of dollars with a little effort on everyone's part. Thanks for your help!
