How Increasing Awareness Can Help Your Weight Stay Off

How much of your daily routine would you say you are really aware of?  How many miles do you drive without really connecting with what you are doing (driving on 'auto pilot'), and what about daily chores, being in meetings (particularly the boring ones!), hearing what others are saying without really listening?  The list is endless.  For some things we need to do this as if we were to be 100% aware of everything that we encountered every day we would be exhausted, but, when it comes to weight loss and weight maintaining it benefits us to raise our awareness.

How many of these questions can you answer without having to really think about it, or work it out?

1.  How many calories did you consume yesterday? (Easy one this if you are on the Total Programme - it was 600)
2.  How much water/tea/coffee/other drinks did you consume?
3.  What is your blood pressure reading?
4.  How many steps did you take?
5.  How long were the gaps between eating and drinking?
6.  What were the reasons why you ate and drank - genuine need for food or some other emotional or habitual reason?

If you could answer all 6 straight off, well done and a Gold Star - you are supremely aware of what you are consuming and how your body and mind are reacting and therefore you are probably either successfully losing weight or successfully maintaining your healthy weight.

Answered 5 - not bad, infact pretty good, just a little bit more awareness and you are in Gold Star category!

Answered 3-4 - You're getting there.  You are clearly demonstrating an interest in having a healthy body.  It might be that your awareness can be a bit hit and miss, possibly dropping on and off diets now and then without maintaining a steady weight?

Answered 1-2 - And were they guesses? You would definitely benefit from more awareness.

Answered zero - Oh dear, but at least you have read this far - so there is some interest there.

I'm afraid the bad news is that just losing weight isn't enough.  But, if you have yo-yo dieted for years you already know that. The good news is that enrolling on a LighterLife Programme gives you all the guidance, knowledge, insight and support that you need to develop your awareness about yourself and your relationship with food, and, it doesn't end when the weight is lost.  By completing the Programme you continue to be supported to help you maintain your weight loss - all you need to do is be prepared to change.

I run weekly groups on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for both Men and Women, Total and Lite Programmes plus the Fast option and a support group for Life Members.  Everyone is supported in their journey to full awareness and a slim, fit, healthy body.
