What Is It You Really Want?
I've met a great many wonderful clients over the eight years I have been running LighterLife here in Loughborough and for many of them they initially come seeking a short term, fast, weight loss.  They have heard that the Total Programme is a Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) which is safe and medically monitored and that is the attraction.  Quite often, at that initial point of contact they are not looking beyond the weight loss to the long term benefits of learning how to keep that weight off.

Why not?  Because if you have had a life time of "dieting", indeed if you grew up watching family members going "on a diet" and then coming "off the diet" and returning back to the eating and drinking habits that first put the weight on, you have developed what is called a Core Belief that whilst diets do "work" in terms of getting rid of weight, there isn't any expectation that the weight will stay off.  Indeed, the expectation is that in a few months time you'll go on another "diet" to get the weight off that has "come back".

I'm deliberately putting some of these phrases inside quote marks because this is part of the dieting language that you can unwittingly develop and retain without even realising it.

LighterLife don't see the weight loss stage of the Programme as the start and finish.  It is the Pre-Work if you like.  The Programme starts with the weight loss stage and then once you are at your healthy BMI it moves into the Management Phases where you learn about nutrition and food groups and all the other knowledge you need to manage food, only then do you start the real journey which is keeping the weight off.

This is the Long Term Success, keeping your healthy, slim, happy body whilst gaining a much more peaceful, empowered relationship with food and drink where you have colourful, taste filled food every day rather than beige coloured fat and salt or sugar filled food that leaves you feeling bloated, lifeless and unhappy.

This, for many, is a totally new concept. So, how do you do it?

First and foremost you need to want to keep the weight off.  Not "hope" it will stay off, not "wish" it would stay off, but commit to making the lifestyle and thought changes that will ensure you weight maintain.  I hear the most wonderful reasons about how weight returns which range from blaming the weight loss method, i.e.."That diet didn't work" to "the weight just found me again" which leaves me with an image of fat floating around in the air just waiting for that person to walk by and then whoosh, it deposits itself back on that person.

Secondly, you've got to be prepared to change.  Einstein said "the definition of madness is doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result".   Whilst you are on the weight loss phase of the Programme you will attend weekly group counselling or coaching sessions where we explore the mind sets that you currently have about food that are not helping you and looking at how to change them. This is unique to LighterLife, no-one else offers this and it's what makes us so much more than just another diet.

Thirdly, you need to learn how to plan.  Plan the weekly menus, plan the shopping list, plan what to take to work, on a day out, on a self catering holiday, etc etc to ensure that the food you have available to you is healthy, nutritious, low GI and tasty.

So, essentially the choice is yours.  Do you just want a Short Term Win in terms of fast weight loss or a Long Term Success where the fast weight loss is followed by change which makes being slim, fit and happy your new normal?

Where Do We Meet

New Room April 13
Your group sessions are held in my offices at Mountfields House in Loughborough, just off Epinal Way.  They are private rooms with deep, comfortable leather sofas, mood lighting and as much free coffee, selection of teas and flavoured waters as you wish. There is even a screen playing an ambient video of a roaring log fire, or marine fish, or sometimes a moonlit beach.  It is all designed to put you at your ease to leave you receptive to learning more about yourself and what you need to change.  If you struggle to meet your group time one week, no problem, I also offer six "pop in" sessions every week where you can pick up that week's packs and get weighed. Definitely no plastic orange chairs or whiff of Jeyes fluid!

Also, all weighing and measuring is carried out in private in a separate office so your privacy is maintained and I certainly don't then share weight losses with the rest of the group.  If you wish to do so then you can, but, not everyone wants to so your wishes are respected.

What Does It Cost?

It depends which Programme you are suitable for, but it starts at just £7.99 a day for which you get seven days of foodpacks with no additional food to buy, a full hour of group counselling a week which would cost around £60 an hour if bought separately, FREE car parking, FREE drinks and FREE support via telephone and/or email for six days a week.

If you are unsure about whether or not you can afford it, try recording what you spend on food and drink for one week.  Remember to record everything, every packet of crisps, takeaway, coffee, sandwich etc as well as what you buy in the supermarket and see what it adds up to.  You could be surprised.  Then bear in mind you won't be buying any of this whilst you are on the Programme as all your nutritional needs are supplied by me and you might just find you can afford it.

What Next?

Come and meet me.  It won't cost you a penny to find out more and meeting me doesn't obligate you to join at all.  We will just have a coffee together and I'll explain about the Programme in more detail.  I can calculate how long it will take you to reach your healthy BMI (and most people are surprised at how quick that is) and then you decide what you want to do next, with no hard pressure "selling" at all.

I run initial appointments  every Wednesday at either 3.30pm or 6.00pm, or other times by appointment.  Just give me a call on 01509 234433 or email debbie.ford@lighterlifecounsellor.com  to book a time to meet.  What have you got to lose other than weight and a whole lot of negative chatter and bad habits that are holding you back.

I look forward to meeting you soon.
