Why Weight Loss Is Only The Beginning
You can't have missed the onslaught of diet companies at the moment urging you to lose weight for Christmas - indeed, LighterLife central marketing are doing the same thing, but, what about after Christmas?  What about after the weight is shed, what then?  This is where LighterLife is unique because we actually consider the weight loss stage to be the "pre-work", the start of the real work is keeping the weight off.

So, how does it work and why is it so different from anything else out there?  Well, the LighterLife Lifestyle Change Programme (not just a diet) works in three key stages:

Stage One:

Weight loss.  If you have a BMI of 28+ you do the Total Abstinence Programme where you use our high quality nutritionally complete foodpacks for your nutrition which enables you to safely drop down to a 600 calorie a day intake which burns the weight off quickly. They are simple to use, quick to prepare, a choice of 17 different flavours and there is no weighing, measuring or adding up to worry about.  Alongside this you receive weekly group counselling in small numbers of same sex, same Programme clients to help you retain a healthy balance with food.  If your BMI is below 30 you have the option of the Lite version of the Programme where you drop down to between 800-1000 calories a day by having 75% of your daily nutrition from foodpacks and one simple meal.

Stage Two:

Once you are at your healthy BMI (between 20-25 which for most people is a difference of around 1.5 stones, so no prescriptive "Goal Weight" to stick to) you switch to the Management phases where you gradually drop the number of foodpacks you are taking and reintroduce food a food group at a time whilst receiving a full education about nutrition, GI, how to calculate he right portion sizes for your body, how to plan and cook healthily, and a whole lot more.

Stage Three:

The start of the real journey, keeping the weight off.  If you have committed fully to the Programme you now know a whole lot more about yourself and your relationship with food and the areas you need to focus on changing.  You have a wealth of nutritional knowledge from the management phases, now you need to put it all into practice.  But, you are not alone.  You still have access to me six days a week for guidance and support, you can use the Ladies Management group on a Tuesday evening, or the Men's group on a Tuesday afternoon for additional counselling, you have access to a range of Management foods and can buy the foodpacks in ad hoc amounts to help you weight maintain.  All the support you can think of is there, you just need to access it.

Where Do We Meet

New Room April 13
Your group sessions are held in my offices at Mountfields House in Loughborough, just off Epinal Way.  They are private rooms with deep, comfortable leather sofas, mood lighting and as much free coffee, selection of teas and flavoured waters as you wish. There is even a screen playing an ambient video of a roaring log fire, or marine fish, or sometimes a moonlit beach.  It is all designed to put you at your ease to leave you receptive to learning more about yourself and what you need to change.  If you struggle to meet your group time one week, no problem, I also offer six "pop in" sessions every week where you can pick up that week's packs and get weighed. Definitely no plastic orange chairs or whiff of Jeyes fluid!

Also, all weighing and measuring is carried out in private in a separate office so your privacy is maintained and I certainly don't then share weight losses with the rest of the group.  If you wish to do so then you can, but, not everyone wants to so your wishes are respected.

Here's What Joanne learned from her journey:

Joanne Morley went to the LighterLife counsellor in Oldham and lost an impressive 2.5 stones.  Here's what she learned during the Programme:

1.  It's never too late to lose weight.

I put my weight on in my early 40's. I was eating and drinking a bit more than usual and not doing any exercise.  When my clothes started to get tighter and I began to feel middle-aged and frumpy, I knew I had to do something about it.  Doing LighterLife and reaching my healthy BMI at the age of 45 I feel like I have a new lease of life.  I've joined a gym, I'm doing Zumba and Pilates classes and I love going for long walks.  I've also got the travelling bug and have been to Venice, Paris, and Rome this year - and hope to continue having more adventures with my family.

2 I have willpower.

I was worried when I joined the Total programme that I'd struggle to stick to the four Foodpacks  day.  But it didn't take me long to discover which Foodpacks I liked best and to settle into a routine.  I was determined from the outset to stick to the plan and seeing the weight drop off so quickly was a real motivator.

3.  Group sessions are the key

The weekly group sessions were my favourite thing about LighterLife.  I got to know some really lovely women.  The sessions were small and friendly and I came to really look forward to my group.  My counsellor was great - always supportive, with lots of advice and encouragement.  I loved how upbeat she was.  She really know her stuff and just "got" me and the other ladies.  Also, the discussions really gave me something to think about each week and take away with me to apply to how I approach my life and food.

4.  Sign up to Management

Once you lose weight with LighterLife it pays to sign up to their Management groups.  The continued group support I get helps me to maintain my weight loss.  Plus, the nutritional information you receive is invaluable.  I've learned skills that will help me to keep the weight off long term.

What Does It Cost?

It depends which Programme you are suitable for, but it starts at just £7.99 a day for which you get seven days of foodpacks with no additional food to buy, a full hour of group counselling a week which would cost around £60 an hour if bought separately, FREE car parking, FREE drinks and FREE support via telephone and/or email for six days a week.

If you are unsure about whether or not you can afford it, try recording what you spend on food and drink for one week.  Remember to record everything, every packet of crisps, takeaway, coffee, sandwich etc as well as what you buy in the supermarket and see what it adds up to.  You could be surprised.  Then bear in mind you won't be buying any of this whilst you are on the Programme as all your nutritional needs are supplied by me and you might just find you can afford it.

What Next?

Come and meet me.  It won't cost you a penny to find out more and meeting me doesn't obligate you to join at all.  We will just have a coffee together and I'll explain about the Programme in more detail.  I can calculate how long it will take you to reach your healthy BMI (and most people are surprised at how quick that is) and then you decide what you want to do next, with no hard pressure "selling" at all.

I run initial appointments  every Wednesday at either 3.30pm or 6.00pm, or other times by appointment.  Just give me a call on 01509 234433 or email debbie.ford@lighterlifecounsellor.com  to book a time to meet.  What have you got to lose other than weight and a whole lot of negative chatter and bad habits that are holding you back.

I look forward to meeting you soon.
