Have you noticed that when you have a really good holiday, one where you switch off, relax and re-charge your batteries your mind becomes so much freer and more open? All those things that seemed impossible when you were on the work/chores/school run etc treadmill suddenly become possible. The trick of course is retaining that motivational thinking when you return from holiday.
This can be achieved by following a few simple steps:
1. Before you return from holiday, set yourself a realistic, achievable, timed goal so you know what it is you want to do, e.g. I want to lose two stones in two months and learn how to keep it off using the LighterLife Programme.
2. Start to work towards your goal as soon as you get back - procrastination is like sticking your head in the sand and pretending that the goal you want to achieve doesn't really exist, or wasn't really that important. Make that appointment with me to find out how I can help you achieve that weight loss goal, or, if you are a returning client, email me to find out which groups are available for you.
3. Believe you can do it. You believed you could on holiday when you were relaxed and optimistic, so the ability is obviously within you, you just have to keep telling yourself so. Start each day with a positive affirmation such as "I can do anything I choose to do".
4. Pick a number of "measures" to give yourself evidence that change is happening. For example, with weight loss don't just go by what the scales say, they only record weight loss. Measure yourself monthly, bust, waist, hips, thighs, calves, upper arms, you'll be amazed how swiftly they reduce in size on LighterLife. Keep trying on all those clothes you thought you had permanently grown out of, they will start to fit. (Do remember to throw out the big clothes though, you are not going back to that size).
5. Keep a journal of your change journey. Record how you feel, note all the little successes as well as the big ones, such as "I walked upstairs in one go without feeling breathless", or "my knees have now stopped aching at the end of the day" etc. They are all records of success on the journey.
And before you know it, you will have successfully achieved your goal and your old life will be left behind and you have welcomed in your new, healthier life.
