Hi everyone, 
I wonder how many of you fell for one or more of the colds/flu/virus's that seemed to be happily inflicting themselves on anyone who got in the way during January?
It's a little known fact, but, being overweight reduces the immune system making it more likely that you will become ill if you are carrying extra weight.
Also, not eating a nutritionally balanced diet means you are not giving your body all the vitamins and minerals it needs to keep the immune system at an effective level which makes you more susceptible.
It probably won't surprise you therefore to know that very few LighterLife Loughborough clients picked up bugs this winter, and those that did were rid of them faster than normal. Why, because the four Foodpacks they have a day gave them 100% of the nutrition, vitamins and minerals their body need every day and their weight loss did the rest. Just think, if you joined LighterLife now you would be so much fitter and healthier come next winter and the next round of winter bugs, how great would that be?
Two people who know all about the benefits of being fitter and healthier are Fay and Sue, two Loughborough clients who so impressed LighterLife with both their combined 10.5 stones of weight loss but also the way they have kept their weight off for several months that they were invited to a photo shoot recently which will form part of the next LighterLife magazine. Have a look at some of the behind the scenes photos further down in this newsletter to whet your appetite.

HIGHLIGHT ON THE TOTAL PROGRAMME
Fay and Sue achieved their weight loss and weight maintaining success on the original and the best LighterLife Programme - the Total Programme.
There are two distinct sides to the Total Programme:
(1) the weight loss. and
(2) the important bit - the counselling.
(1) The weight loss. Clients on the Total Programme follow a Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) substituting food for four "Foodpacks" a day. There are 16 choices ranging from shakes to pasta meals, to bars, to porridge, to soups etc so variety is never a problem. There is no weighing, no measuring, no calorie counting, you just need to be able to count up to four to ensure that you have all four Foodpacks a day! The high nutritional content of each pack enables you to safely cut down to 600 calories a day (you would never be able to safely do that low a calorie intake with just food as yourbody wouldn't be getting sufficient nutrients each day). We are the only diet company who have opted to be regulated by NICE in a non-regulated industry to ensure the safety of our clients and it is why you need to book an appointment with me to meet me beforehand to check that you are suitable for the Programme, not everyone is. Weight loss differs depending on your gender, age and height but on average clients lose at a rate of one stone a month.
(2) The important bit! You can lose weight on any diet, at varying speeds, but that isn't the most important bit of the journey, indeed, LighterLife view weight loss as just the start. It's altering your lifestyle and thinking that ensures the weight stays off. If you go back to eating and drinking like you did prior to losing the weight then all of the weight will go back on - it's a basic biological fact I'm afraid.
So, what keeps it off? Firstly, finding out why you eat and drink like you do. Did you learn it from your parents? Have you taught yourself to make food and/or drink your first stop when you are stressed, unhappy, tired, celebrating, relaxing, etc etc if so you need to find another way of managing these emotions and situations to get a different outcome - a slimmer outcome.
This is just a snapshot of what we do during the group counselling sessions, but it is completely different to any other form of "meeting" that exists elsewhere. Men and women have separate groups, and only women on the Total Programme are given access to their group. There are never more than 11 ladies in a group and no-one is forced to share anything they don't wish to.

LIGHTERLIFE GROUPS - WHICH ONE IS THE ONE FOR YOU?
At LighterLife here in Loughborough we offer a full range of groups to suit all clients, but, sometimes which one is right for you can be confusing. The groups will follow either the Total abstinence Programme or the low calorie Lite Programme. Men and women have their own groups. So, here is a description of each group and who it suits.
Each group gives you at least an hour of group counselling every week as well as on-going support whenever you need it during the rest of the week. There are also pop in times available every day Monday to Thursday to aid flexibility if you cannot get to a group time for whatever reason, but, the key to success on LighterLife is to aim to attend the majority of sessions to learn more about your relationship with food - otherwise you will only be doing a diet!
LADIES TOTAL - Tuesday 7.00pm to 8.30pm
This group is for new female clients with a BMI of 28 or higher who have never been a client of LighterLife before. Currently there are six places available in this group. You must attend an Initial Appointment with me before you can join. Call me to book one.
LADIES RETURNER - Monday 5.30pm to 7.00pm or Wednesday 7.00pm to 8.30pm
These groups are for ladies who, for whatever reason, have left the Programme early before completing, or, have completed but have found a few pounds creep back on and want a more structured environment than the Management group to lose the weight. You can follow either the Total or Lite Programme in this group and you can stay in the group for as many consecutive weeks as you wish.
You can join any week.
LADIES MANAGEMENT AND LITE- Thursday 5.30pm to 7.00pm
This group is for ladies who are currently going through the Management Phases or who are doing the Lite low calorie Programme or are Life Members, i.e. those who have completed the entire Programme of weight loss and all the Management phases and are using the group for on-going support to help them maintain their weight loss.
LADIES FOUR WEEK COMMITMENT GROUP - Monday 7.15pm to 8.45pm
This group is for returning Ladies who want to commit to a full four weeks on the Total Programme. The commitment is made by paying for the four Weekly Fees up front and then attending each of the four weekly sessions and purchasing a full 28 foodpacks each week. This group is available to any ex-clients and Life Members, but, not to any of have previously enrolled on a specific time period group such as this, or a Bootcamp, and failed to complete the number of weeks they committed to.
Next 4 week commitment due to commence 2nd March.
(N.B. Enrol early for this group as it is very popular - places go fast and are limited to11)
MEN'S GROUP - Tuesday 5.30pm to 6.45pm
This is for all Men regardless of status. You can start any week, but, once you start the commitment is to purchase a Weekly Fee and 28 foodpacks every consecutive week with no missed weeks. The only exceptions to this are for Life Members who can purchase any amount of foodpacks and attend whenever they wish, and those undertaking the Management Phases where the number of foodpacks relates to the stage they are at.
You can join any week.
NB This group may be moving to 2pm on a Tuesday from the beginning of March.
