Welcome to 2015, a brand new year full of opportunity for change!

 

You may have noticed that our new branding is to try and make the point that weight loss isn't the be all and end all.  For those who still think we are only a diet club, the strap line "Diets Alone Don't Work" might be a bit confusing, but, for those of you who have experienced what we do as a Lifestyle Change Programme it will be perfectly understandable.  

 

You see, weight loss is only the start.  It's what happens after you have lost the weight that is the important bit.  If you return to old behaviours and habits then you will return to eating more calories than your body needs and put the weight back on.  It's pretty simple biology really.  So, if you were to have more of an understanding of how you use food and relate to food and what needs to be changed and tweaked in your behaviour with food then you have a far higher chance of maintaining your weight loss.  Couple this with our on-going support and your new found knowledge and successful weight maintaining can become a reality.

 

Why not come and find out more?  I run free Initial Appointments twice a week at 3.30pm and 6.00pm on a Wednesday and can arrange other day time appointments if required.  Coming to an Initial Appointment doesn't obligate you to join, there will be no "hard sell".

 

Also in this newsletter, there is news of a great new product which you can have in addition to your foodpacks which should be in stock next week, and a whole set of changes to the medical monitoring rules from NICE - for the better!  Read more below.

NEW MEDICAL GUIDELINES MAKING IT EASIER FOR CLIENTS 

 

 

 

Most people are not aware that the dieting industry is one of the few industries that is not regulated.  That means that diet companies can pretty much do as they wish and make all sorts of claims about their products.


 

LighterLife however, are the only company who volunteered to be regulated by the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) from the start and to abide by their stringent rules surrounding Very Low Calorie Diets (VLCD) which is what the Total Programme is and Low Calorie Diets (LCD) which is what Lite is.


 

This has made it problematic in the past for some clients to join, particularly if their GP is unsupportive of their weight loss.


 

However, over the years NICE have regularly reviewed the VLCD and LCD requirements and have amended the rules and regulations that we need to comply with.  So, you can now:

 

  • Self certify if you are not on a medication that requires monitoring, such as Type II medications or hypertensive (high blood pressure) medication.
  • Even if you are taking these medications and still need your GP's approval, you only need them to sign for permission once and now no longer need to return to their surgery on a monthly basis for further checks.
  • If you return within one year of leaving you only need to sign a short update form rather than complete the longer self certification form.
  • There is no longer an upper age limit.  Previously, newcomers couldn't join if they were aged over 70 years and even if you were a client you had no choice but to leave at 75 years.  This is no longer the case.
  • You can opt to do up to a five day fast, without group work, on a weekly basis by just purchasing foodpacks from me.  However, this does not get you the Lifestyle Change Programme, purely the foodpacks as if you were purchasing them in a shop.

So, much easier to get onto the Lifestyle Change Programmes and a further option if you don't feel ready to commit to a Programme yet.  Much more flexibility and choice for 2015.

LIGHTERLIFE GROUPS - WHICH ONE IS THE ONE FOR YOU?

  

At LighterLife here in Loughborough we offer a full range of groups to suit all clients, but, sometimes which one is right for you can be confusing.  The groups will follow either the Total abstinence Programme or the low calorie Lite Programme.  Men and women have their own groups.  So, here is a description of each group and who it suits.


 

Each group gives you at least an hour of group counselling every week as well as on-going support whenever you need it during the rest of the week.  There are also pop in times available every day Monday to Thursday to aid flexibility if you cannot get to a group time for whatever reason, but, the key to success on LighterLife is to aim to attend the majority of sessions to learn more about your relationship with food - otherwise you will only be doing a diet!


 

LADIES TOTAL - Tuesday 7.00pm to 8.30pm

  

This group is for new female clients with a BMI of 28 or higher who have never been a client of LighterLife before.  Currently there are seven places available in this group.  You must attend an Initial Appointment with me before you can join.  Call me to book one. 

  

 

LADIES RETURNER - Monday 5.30pm to 7.00pm or Wednesday 7.00pm to 8.30pm


 

This group is for ladies who, for whatever reason, have left the Programme early before completing, or, have completed but have found a few pounds creep back on and want a more structured environment than the Management group to lose the weight.  You can follow either the Total or Lite Programme in this group and you can stay in the group for as many consecutive weeks as you wish.   

 
You can join any week. 

  

LADIES MANAGEMENT AND LITE- Thursday 5.30pm to 7.00pm

 

  
 This group is for ladies who are currently going through the Management Phases or who are doing the Lite low calorie Programme or are Life Members, i.e. those who have completed the entire Programme of weight loss and all the Management phases and are using the group for on-going support to help them maintain their weight loss.


 

  

LADIES FOUR WEEK COMMITMENT GROUP - Monday 7.15pm to 8.45pm

  

This group is for returning Ladies who want to commit to a full four weeks on the Total Programme.  The commitment is made by paying for the four Weekly Fees up front and then attending each of the four weekly sessions and purchasing a full 28 foodpacks each week.  This group is available to any ex-clients and Life Members, but, not to any of have previously enrolled on a specific time period group such as this, or a Bootcamp, and failed to complete the number of weeks they committed to.

  

Next 4 week commitment due to commence 2nd February.

(N.B. Enrol early for this group as it is very popular - places go fast and are limited to11)

  

MEN'S GROUP - Tuesday 5.30pm to 6.45pm

  

This is for all Men regardless of status.  You can start any week, but, once you start the commitment is to purchase a Weekly Fee and 28 foodpacks every consecutive week with no missed weeks.  The only exceptions to this are for Life Members who can purchase any amount of foodpacks and attend whenever they wish, and those undertaking the Management Phases where the number of foodpacks relates to the stage they are at.

  

You can join any week.


 

NB This group will be moving to 2pm on a Tuesday from the beginning of February.
