MYTH VS FACT

MYTH:
You don't need to drink any more in the hot weather - it doesn't make any difference.
FACT:
Dehydration: One of the biggest dangers of a heat wave is the increased risk of dehydration.
This is the loss of water from the body, and with it important blood salts like potassium and sodium which play a vital role in the function of organs such as the kidneys, brain and heart.
It can lead to headaches, dizziness, confusion, lethargy and problems with breathing and heart rate.
What is the best way to avoid problems?
Drink lots of liquids: As you will be losing more fluid than normal, it is important to top up your supplies.
The best way to keep yourself hydrated is to drink water, and to sip it, rather than gulp it down.
We always recommend that clients drink little and often ... In very hot weather, consumption should be increased. However, drinking excessive amounts can bring problems of its own, so getting the balance right is very important.

NEW TEXT NUMBER
As existing clients know, I regularly text them using a text messaging service via the Internet, however, the provider I was using kept changing the number which was very frustrating for those who tried to text back and it bounced.
So, I have moved to another provider where the number will remain the same and can be stored in your phone to text me when you wish. It is:

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
A Great Way to Cool Down
LL Drinks Mix Lollies
Don't forget, you can make ice lollies out of our drinks mixes, which is a great way to cool down, and consume liquid.
We have three flavours; St Clements (which is an orange and lemon flavour), Sunshine Orange (very aptly named for this week), and Fruits of the Forest. |

Thought for the Month
Let go of thoughts that do not make you strong. We are born with only two fears:- fear of loud noises and fear of bring dropped. All other fears we have taught ourselves, therefore we can let them go because they are ours to release. | |

Hi everyone,
Now be honest, did you really think Andy Murray would succeed? I didn't, however, the point is that he did. Despite the setbacks, despite the detractors, despite the length of time it took him he kept on going and the result was success. Think about how you could equate that to your weight loss goals?
The Ladies Pre-Summer Boot Camp still has now completed and the ladies have collectively lost the equivalent of an average sized woman (11 stones). Fabulous success. I'll be running another one starting in September so if you are someone who has left the Programme mid way for whatever reason and fancy giving it a go, get in touch and I'll put your name on the list.
However, I'm afraid that the men were not up to the challenge. Only 3 signed up for their Boot Camp and currently they are not achieving anything like the success of the ladies. Come on guys.
Denise Welch is in this month's edition of Hello magazine looking fabulous. The Daily Mail also ran an article on her but put her weight loss down to stopping drinking alcohol! If you want to keep up to date with her progress, connect with us on Facebook - LighterLife Loughborough open group.
We've also got our own YouTube page now as well so please click on the link on the left and have a look at both Denise's videos and many others for inspiration.
Probably the most popular foodpack ever arrived this week - Spaghetti Bolognese! It has literally been flying off the shelves and I've been having to buy twice the amount I thought I would need to. If you haven't tried it yet, give it a go. There is also an update below on when other new flavours are due to arrive.
We've also got a little video on how LighterLife FAST works. This is the option for anyone who has a healthy BMI to buy 8 foodpacks a week to eat normally for 5 days and FAST for 2 days using foodpacks. If you know anyone who enjoys FASTing, let them know of this option.
And finally, clients wanted a permanent number to text me on so I've changed text providers and you can now text me on 07860017700 which is a number that won't change!

Linda Robson on LighterLife and How Hurtful Other People Can Be
Anyone who has had a weight problem will know that it is so much more than just what you eat. Others who have never had a weight issue will condescendingly offer "advice" such as "well just eat less and exercise more!" as if that hadn't occurred to us.
To those who use food for emotional comfort, stress busting, dealing with boredom, etc etc, it isn't that simple and that is why everyone who is not only successful at losing the weight on LighterLife but also applying what they have learned and gaining a new relationship with food is a real heroine (or hero) in my book and should congratulate themselves daily!
However, there are some very unpleasant people in the world who are just dying for successful weight losers and successful weight maintainers to put it all back on and this is exactly what both Linda Robson and Pauline Quirke have discovered.
Read her interview with Woman Magazine by clicking on the link below for some insightful advice!
