MYTH VS FACT 

 

 

MYTH:

 

Everyone knows you have to do LighterLife at least three times before it works.

 

FACT:

 

Sadly this Myth is spread by those who are looking for a "miracle" way of losing weight and keeping it off without taking any responsibility for learning how to both lose weight and maintain that weight loss. They think that something magical will happen to their body if they keep doing the LighterLife Programme enough times.

   
Where I think this myth originates from is that some people need to re-visit LighterLife more than once to help to embed their  new form of behaviour.  This isn't "doing it again" it is re-visiting and re-learning and building on the sucess they have already had.  The key thing is that these clients do realise that success is their responsibility.

HEALTHY NEWS AND ADVICE

   

 

Lounging on the sofa may cause unhealthy fat to form around the heart, so, follow these easy tips to get more active:

  • Grab the ironing and pop the TV on. Watch telly while you're on your feet.
  • Be a fidget. Studies show this burns more calories.  "An urge to fidget is your body telling you to move" say Dr James Levine from the mayo clinic.
  • Walk up escalators - its the cheats way of doing stairs.
  • Ditch the TV remote - get up to switch channels.

Welcome to your February 2013 Newsletter

 

Hi everyone,
 

As we look out at our rain and snow drenched landscape it's hard to believe that summer really isn't all that far away - particularly if you want to look stunning on the beach this year!  If you do, then now is the time to start to do something about it and join LighterLife to shed the unwanted pounds.  See Sue's success story below on how a holiday spurred her onto success. PLUS, join before 31st March 2013 and take advantage of our FREE Registration offer saving you £15.  

 

 

   

 

LighterLife have introduced so many exciting new changes so far this year, I thought I'd give you a quick summary:

 

  • Most clients can now self certify for both the Total and the Lite Programmes, so no need to see a GP any more (Ts&Cs apply). This applies to both new clients and returners whose medical authorisation has expired.

 

  • You can now start your Programme straight away after your initial appointment, if you wish, instead of waiting for a group to re-open.

 

  • If you were a previously a client on a Total Programme for 8 weeks or more you can now return to do the Lite Programme regardless of your BMI.

 

  • Foodpacks are individually priced so you choose the packs to suit your budget. Packs start at £1.80 each.

 

  • We've got a great new "Retro" branding and adverts (see TV advert below).

 

  • Our resident Psychologist is regularly writing a column in the Sunday Telegraph magazine, Stella, about the psychological side of our relationship with our weight.
     
  • And we have a guest Blogger:-  Caroline Buchanan is following the LighterLife Programme and talking about it in her blog. Click on Guest Blog on the left to read.

 

  • Plus, in order to emphasise the need for a psychological approach to weight, LighterLife have created a new Facebook page called "Ditch the Diet" which talks about the necessity not to view LighterLife as just a "diet".  See quick link on the left.

I've made a small change to Pop Ins for clients as well.  There is now a longer pop in on a Wednesday night from 5.00pm to 6.00pm.  This due to moving the initial appointments to 6pm to accommodate a new Starter Group at 7.00pm for those who want to start the Programme straight away.

Meet Sue.  Sue joined the LighterLife Total Programme  in Loughborough in July 2012.  She lost 3 stones in 14 weeks on total abstinence and then a further half a stone on the Management stages making her total weight loss 3 and a half stones.  Here is Sue's story in her own words:

 

"I have been a serial dieter, having tried other programmes, but managed to put the weight back on again. In May 2012, I went to Mauritius to celebrate my Silver Wedding Anniversary, a special event that I would never experience again, but even this didn't motivate me to lose some weight - even though I tried, I kept taking one step forward and two back! I went feeling extremely disappointed with myself, feeling fat and uncomfortable and resolved to do something about it once and for all. 
 

I overheard someone saying that they had lost five stones with LighterLife and asked her all about it. I had also read an article by Pauline Quirke about LL, so I scoured the website for information and made contact. I liked the focus on addressing the psychological side of weight management and addressing behaviours. I calculated it would take me approximately three months to lose three stones and decided it was important enough for me totally commit to it - after all I'd been overweight for years.


Losing three and a half stones has been so liberating, I feel absolutely fantastic! I have much more energy and enthusiasm for everything and getting dressed is a pleasure as I have so many choices now. I am continually amazed that I am a size10 and love the compliments I receive.

 

My latest BUPA health check was glowing - every measure had improved dramatically.  I have a special birthday in September and I'm looking forward to a fabulous holiday somewhere hot and sunny, feeling fabulous!"

Joining the LighterLife Programme has never been easier.

 

Step 1:- Ring - 01509 234433 or email debbie.ford@lighterlifecounsellor.com to book an appointment on a free, no obligation, initial appointment with Debbie Ford, Counsellor for Loughborough at her Mountfields House premises (full address below).

 

Step 2:-  Complete a questionniare about your Wellbeing to register you as a client.* and join straight away if you wish.

 

Step 3:- Choose the best date for you to join your group.

 

Step 4:-  Start your journey to a new slimmer, fitter you!

If you like the sound of LighterLife and want to join, firstly book into a free, no obligation initial appointment (every Wednesday at either 3.30pm or 6.00pm), to find out more, then choose the best date and time below for you to start.  You may need to visit your GP, Practice Nurse or Private GP for a short health assessment before you can join, but  MOST clients will be able to self certify:

Monday 7.15pm:-
5 places available.  Next start date:  25th February
  
Tuesday 7.00pm:- 
2 places available.  Next start date: 5th March.
 
Thursday 7.30pm:-
8 places available.  Next start date: 14th February.
  
LADIES LITE PROGRAMME GROUP:
 
Currently suspended.
Will open again on demand on a Monday.
 
MENS GROUP:
(Incorporates both Total and Lite Programme)
 
Tuesday 5.30pm.
7 places available.  Next start date: 12th February
 
LADIES REFRESHERS GROUP:
(For those who left the Programme before completion and want to return.)
 
Monday 5.30pm:-
6 places available.  Next start date: 11th February
 
STARTER GROUP: 
Wednesday 7.00pm - An on demand group to enable new joiners to start straight away.
The Small Print
  
The following applies to the new Programme rules:
 
  • All clients must complete a Wellness Profile at an Initial Consultlation to be able to join a Programme.
  • Those clients who are on medications that need to be monitored (this does not apply to all medications - give me a call to check) or who have a condition that needs to be monitored (e.g. Type II Diabetes) will still need to visit their own GP to gain approval to join.
  • Clients who needed to gain their GP's approval to join will also need to return to their GP once a month for a blood pressure check.
  • Clients aged 16-17 or 70-74 will also need their own GP's approval before joining.
  • Clients aged below 16 and 75+ sadly cannot join.  Sorry.
  • These same rules apply to those who have previously been a client and wish to re-join.
