We have one thing to say to our donors...
|
Good morning! We personally want to thank all who donated to WWAD during the Big Give this week. Your support means the world to us. At this hour, we do not know who you are. We will, however, find out this this upcoming Monday.
Personally, I was very moved. So, instead of giving you the boring, old traditional tax exemption letter, I've decided to write each of you an individualized poem. Starting Monday, I will Google you like it's nobody business and incorporate everything I find into a beautiful, heartfelt poem. I'll be honest, the board was against it. Unanimously.
There were comments like, "People are supporting you because they believe in the cause. They deserve the tax write-off. That's part of the deal."
No offense board members, but I know people. Taxes or poems? I'll take poems everyday of the week.
Anyway, thank you for your patience. I can feel the words bubbling up inside me...

One of the very good guys at Walk with a Doc for many years, Elliott B., was dealt a tough hand recently. His wife Debbie, and other family and friends have formed "Team Special Ops." They want to invite any of their Walk with a Doc friends to register on line and join us on Sunday September 29th. Elliott is facing the battle of ALS.
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a deadly illness with no known cause or cure. It affects the motor neurons in a person's brain and spinal cord. When the motor neurons die, the muscles waste away. Gradually, a person is robbed of the ability to walk, speak, eat, and eventually breathe. Upon diagnosis, doctors give ALS patients only 2 to 5 years to live.
The link to the Walk to Defeat ALS web site is here
"Team Special Ops" is one of 75 teams walking to defeat ALS that morning. If someone has a friend or relative dealing with this challenging disease we encourage them to use the link above to go to that team's page and register to walk. Registration is free.

Kathryn's last day was Monday.
Kathryn, thank you for bringing boundless energy, enthusiasm, dedication, and professionalism to WWAD.
It's not everyday that someone is provided the opportunity to work with greatness and we consider ourselves very, very lucky.

Enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend. Please remember 150 minutes/week is your ticket onto the happy train. Walking at moderate pace means not being able to sing, but being able to hold a conversation. That gets it done. We are honored to have this time with you each week. Thank you.
Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.
