Walk with a Doc Newsletter.
Your Ripple Effect.

Good morning! Hope you are well and excited for the great weather coming down the pike.
We've been receiving great questions.
A lot of our participants are new, they're motivated, and they're stepping forward wanting to make a difference in their lives.
They tell us they are not only affecting their lives, but they are setting an important example.
In setting this example, they tell us they are literally changing the lives of their families, their co-workers, and their friends. You know what, they're right.
If you only knew how many people come to our cardiology office deciding to change their lifestyle based on what they've seen from a family member, co-worker, or friend.
You guys
are powerful!
Back to the questions...
Our participants are asking if it's okay to put more than 10,000 steps on their pedometer a day - answer is absolutely.
They are asking if they do their best and they only get 8,000 (or 6,000 or 4,000) is that okay? Absolutely.
As long as you can look in that mirror and say, I did my best. Then you are fine. You're better than fine. You're perfect.
Coach Gaines addresses this much better than I can. I'm going to let him take it from here...

Postmenopausal and taking Vitamin D and calcium?
Please talk to your doctor

This past month the US Preventive Services Task Force has recommended AGAINST Vitamin D and calcium supplementation in post-menopausal women. They have adequate research (16 randomized controlled trials) showing that Vitamin D and calcium increases the risk of kidney stones and does not protect against fractures.

Do not stop these because of us, but please make sure your doctor knows you are on them.

American Hero to Lead Walk with a Doc
US Assistant Attorney Dave DeVillers
Columbus, OH

Dave DeVillers is a federal prosecutor who has put away big-time drug dealers, investigated foreign terrorists, fought crimes against humanity, and helped Iraqi lawyers nail Saddam Hussein.

A couple of his latest challenges include helping the former Soviet country of Georgia rewrite its criminal code and create a trial-by-jury system of justice and he has also just returned from Bangladesh.

Dave DeVillers, an assistant U.S. attorney in Columbus, is part of a U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) program that helps foreign countries establish fair criminal-justice systems.

He is a hero by every definition of the word and his stories will blow your mind.

This Saturday is your chance to shake hands and walk with the guy who helped bring justice to Saddam Hussein (8:30 a.m., Highbanks - Big Meadows Picnic Area).

Thank you for your time this morning.

Stay hungry, stay foolish.

David
