Walk with a Doc Newsletter

Good morning! Hope your week has been good and healthy (filled with glorious walks, runs, bikes and or swims).
I just returned from San Francisco and the fantastic annual meeting put on by the American College of Cardiology. Before I left, I had planned to give a brief medical summary of the 3-5 most practice altering studies, but quite honestly, I didn't hear anything earth-shattering.
Then, our team found this well-written, realistic summary from the conference. It is full of important points from multiple physicians that I have come to very much respect. I think you will find it to be 'high-yield'.

Dr. Kim Field-Springer
Kim successfully defends her PhD dissertation!

Two years ago this young woman approached me at a walk and said, "Hi! My name is Kim and I drove up from Athens, OH (2 hrs away) this morning. I'd like to do my doctorate on Walk with a Doc. Would it be okay if I follow the doctors around as they interact with everyone?" I replied that it was an honor and as long as it was okay with the physician and the participant, sure go ahead.
As she walked away, I found Kathryn and said, "Keep an eye on the whack-job in the hat. She's up to no good."
Well, 2 years and dozens of interviews with Walk participants and physicians later, this beautiful young lady successfully defend a truly incredible 275 page summary of Walk with a Doc. Kathryn and Liz were able to attend and present Liz with a card signed by the Polaris walkers and a pair of Asics running shoes. They were blown away by the depth of knowledge and "all of the big words used" - I agree! When getting the post-mortem by phone, I loved that she picked the 4 most critical evaluators because she wanted to prove that she knew her stuff.
Kim, congrats. We are so proud of you and the effort you put towards earning your doctorate.

Computers
Why, I oughta...

If you've tried to access us by email or website - we apologize. They've been down (since Mon a.m.) I'm proud of our team that has been working around the clock and we look to be up soon.
If the system is not ready by Friday at 1300 EST, please email Kathryn at kathryn.walkwithadoc@gmail.com for dates and times of your local walks. We promise to have the sites and times up as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

150 minutes a week is your charge. If you can't get 150 yet, that's absolutely fine. Just go everyday to the best of your ability, and write it down. Tomorrow, see if you can do 1-5 minutes more. What's at stake? Quality and quantity of life. We have the answer, all we need to do is take advantage of it.

Thank you for your time, your patience, and understanding.

Please have a wonderful weekend!
