Dear Friends:

When we last wrote, Community Healing Network (CHN) and the Association of Black Psychologists (ABPsi) were about to introduce Emotional Emancipation Circles (EECs) to local leaders in Ferguson, Missouri. EECs are a process to help address the root cause of the devaluing of Black lives.

We're thrilled to share that the Ferguson training was a huge success and gave birth to at least 3 EECs. These groups will begin during Kwanzaa.

We're also excited to share that people from Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and Washington, DC took part in the Ferguson training. At the same time, people in New Haven, CT, Tuskegee, AL, Baltimore, MD, Portland, OR, and Los Angeles and Oakland, CA, participated in EECs in their communities to support Ferguson. Plus, EEC activists in the Caribbean, the United Kingdom, and Cuba joined us in solidarity.

Leaders in a host of other cities have reached out to us asking for our help to establish EECs. What a wonderful way to end a spectacular year for CHN!

Among our 2014 successes:
  • In February, we issued a joint appeal with ABPsi, asking the Congressional Black Caucus to hold briefings on the continuing negative effects of the lie of Black inferiority and ways to eradicate it.
  • In June, we hosted a two-day conference in New Haven on The Case for Emotional Emancipation. It drew people from cities across the Northeast and led to numerous requests for EEC training.
  • In September, CHN and ABPsi participated in the Annual Legislative Conference of the Congressional Black Caucus. We led a ground-breaking forum called From Trauma to Wellness. It focused on the lie of Black inferiority as a root cause of many of the challenges facing the Black community.
More and more people are acknowledging that the only way to truly value the lives of Black people is to address the root cause of the devaluing of Black lives: the lie of Black inferiority.

CHN has been working since 2006 to build a global grassroots movement for emotional emancipation to overcome and overturn the lie. We forged a relationship with ABPsi in 2011. Together we've planted seeds for emotional emancipation in cities across the country and around the world.

You can help these seeds grow with a one-time or monthly contribution of $10 or more. Your donation will be used to train local leaders in the EEC process. It will also support ongoing consultation and technical assistance to establish and maintain EECs.

Thank you for your support to keep the movement for emotional emancipation growing.

Happy Holidays.

From Enola Aird, Jill Snyder, Dottie Green, Natalie Roche, Wizdom Powell, Sheila Warren, Tarice Gray, Carl Miller, A.D. Carson, Margo Fugate, and Albert Gentry III, and all your friends at Community Healing Network, Inc.
