BUDGET ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR CHARITIES
  • Proposed Statutory definition of Charity is now to commence from 1 January 2014 (rather than 1 July 2013).
  • Proposed UBIT (Unrelated Business Income Tax) start dates clarified (even for unrelated business activity that has been in operation for many years) and new $250,000 threshold announced. 
  • New DGR category for 'ethics classes' in public schools.
