CHARITY LAW REFORM UPDATE

The reforms just keep coming....and then some may go if we have a change of government.

We now have:

Proposed Statutory definition of Charity in draft legislation to commence from 1 January 2014. The consultation of this draft closes on 3 May 2013. Andrew Lind has had input into a submission to be made by the Queensland Law Society as a member of the Queensland Law Society Not for Profit Law Committee. Proposed Governance Standards intended to apply from 1 July 2013. We now have these in the form of Regulations before both Houses of Parliament. Andrew Lind will be presenting a technical paper on these standards at TEN Charity & NFPs: The first National Technical and Regulatory Conference in Melbourne on 9 May 2013 and then again at the CMA National Conference on the Gold Coast.
