COMING THIS SUNDAY
April 6

This Sunday is the fifth Sunday in the Lenten Season and the message will be brought to you by Jean Graves. We will look at Paul's letter to the Philippians to discover both the tools God gives us for the journey and the prize for which we should be striving. Learn how the Map, the Compass and the North Star will not only guide your journey, but change your life.

This Sunday's scripture: Philippians 3:12-4:1

Presenting God's love, His perfect plan of salvation, and His glorious gifts of mercy and grace, Arise, My Love stirs our innermost thoughts and emotions surrounding the Easter message...death has lost, and love has won, Jesus is alive!

eKids This Sunday, April 6

On Sunday your child will hear the story about how God chose Jeremiah to be a prophet to all the nations.  Even though Jeremiah didn't think he was capable of doing what God asked him to do, God assured him that he was capable because God would be with him.  Jeremiah challenged the way people were living in Judah and called them to turn away from their idol worship and other sins.  Jesus, in the New Testament, did more than challenge how people lived.  He called people to turn from their sins, and He provided the way for people to have a relationship with God.
  • Sunday, April 13th is the Seder meal for children 5 years old through 4th grade. After Sunday School, the children will go to the Youth chapel for some singing, the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem story and video. Then the children will go to Fellowship Hall where they will hear and participate in a Seder meal - just as Jesus and His disciples did. The children will be picked up in Fellowship Hall after the 10:45 service is over.
  • Saturday, April 19th is the Easter Egg hunt and activities at the church from 2-4 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 20th - Easter - there will be NO children's Sunday School, eKids Serve or Worship.  Please worship together as a family. The 9:30 service will be the most family-friendly, broken into shorter segments.

Discipline is NOT Optional

by DiscipleLand Staff

"The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother. When the wicked increase, transgression increases, but the righteous will look upon their downfall. Discipline your son, and he will give you rest; he will give delight to your heart" (Proverbs 29:15-17 ESV).

How Kids Think

Kids protest, "Why are you punishing me?" Children can see only that correction results in a rebuke, spanking, or loss of privileges. They cannot yet appreciate the long-term value of learning an important lesson that molds, strengthens, and perfects their character.

God's Wisdom

A seasoned preacher observed, "About the time folks stopped training horses and started driving cars, parents lost their child raising skills." He knew that both horses and children have individual needs and personalities. Both learn through correction. Both must be led.
