Ways to Respond to Hurricane Sandy Survivors
In the U.S., United Methodist Early Response Teams from many states, including Indiana, have been deployed to the Northeast Coast.
Volunteers need to wait until Volunteer In Mission sites are established. VIMs cannot go in to an area at the present time because Early Response Teams are on the ground restoring service and clearing debris.
There are many ways you can help:
- Give to UMCOR Hurricane 2012 Advance #3021787, which will cover needs in the affected U.S. and Caribbean regions. Give online at www.umcor.org. Remember 100 percent of all gifts given to Hurricane 2012 will go for hurricane relief.
- You can also text the word RESPONSE to 80888 to give an immediate $10 donation.
- Pray for the survivors of this storm and for those who are helping them. Here is a prayer offered by Shirley Saddler, Indiana Conference Prayer Coordinator. "Dear Father, we pray for all of the people on the East Coast and beyond who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy. The work that is going on to help people in the aftermath of a disastrous storm like this is almost too much to for us to imagine. Guide those who respond during these next days and weeks. Bless the policemen and firemen, electric workers and emergency crews, United Methodist Committee on Relief workers, the American Red Cross, FEMA workers and with all who reach out to neighbors with your love and compassion. Comfort those who have lost loved ones and provide hope for those who are still trying to assess property damage. Lord, when people stop long enough to rest, help them not to be anxious or afraid, but fill their minds and hearts with your peace. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Applying Bible Principles
This month, we are considering this principle:
When we give to God, we are the primary beneficiaries.
Look up these verses in your Bibles:
Luke 6:38
Philippians 4:17-19
Consider these questions:
1. When we give to God, how does God give to us?
2. What does it mean that with the "measure" we give to Him, He will give back to us?
3. How is God's promise to supply all of our needs in Philippians 4:19 based on the giving described in Philippians 4:18? |

Looking for Gaither Music Book - "It's Stil the Greatest tory Ever Told"
My mother and I are looking for a Gaither vocal music book entitled "It's Still the Greatest Story Ever Told" and is arranged TTBB (for 4-part men).
