Greater Rochester SCORE Presents:

2013 Outstanding Business Awards

Windsor Cottage and Tasteful Additions

At a luncheon on Friday, April 12th, Greater SCORE Rochester honored this year's recipients of the 2013 Outstanding Business of the Year Award.  David Seeley, Governor's Representative to the 11-County Finger Lakes Region, served as keynote speaker and also presented both businesswomen with a congratulatory proclamantion from Governor Cuomo.  The luncheon was attended by over 70 SCORE members and SCORE Sponsors who enthusiastically congratulated the accomplishments of both recipients.

Peggy Growney, founder and owner of Windsor Cottage, sought SCORE's help prior to opening her home furnishing, high-end consignment furniture store over 10 ten years ago.  Since then she has continued to work with SCORE as she further developed and refined her growing business through personalized offerings and design services.  To celebrate Windsor Cottage's Ten Year Anniversary, Peggy invited her customers to submit a local charity of their choice.  As a way of giving back, Peggy randomly selected from those charities and during the next 12 months made a $500 donation highlighting each in her store.

Asha Waterstreet, owner of Tasteful Additions, a purveyor of flavored olive oils, balsamic vinegars and gourmet salts, worked closely with SCORE prior to her store opening in July of 2011.   Asha has incorporated customer input which resulted in her instituting her "Refill Rewards Program" in an effort to provide a sustainable product and provides a 10% discount for her customers. Additionally, customer suggestions initiated her to include nutrition information on all her products as well as suggestions on how to use each product. Asha has also produced her Tasteful Additions Cookbook which highlights recipes using her oils, vinegars and salts.
