Greetings!
Hope you all were able to attend Frank Peele's wonderful presentation on macro photography at our February meeting. It was quite inspiring, and I think more than a few of us left with a new appreciation of close-up photography, and a desire to jump in and give it a try.
Our popular Digital Photographic competition headlines our upcoming March meeting, at 6:30pm on Thursday March 24. This is a great chance to see amazing images created by PPLAC members, and to learn from the judges what makes them great. This is an unparalleled learning experience, not to be missed. And it's free to all! You can't beat the price! For more information or to RSVP, visit our new and improved Calendar at: http://www.meetup.com/Culver-City-Photography-Meetup/events/
We have a wonderful photo outing to the Annenberg Space for Photography coming up quickly...on Thursday March 3. The Annenberg is featuring the work of National Geographic photographer Franz Lanting. Be sure to RSVP immediately if you'd like to go. It's free to all PPLAC members, although there is a fee for non members. To RSVP or get more info, email tour leader John Grusd at JohnGrusd@gmail.com.
The same day in the afternoon, PPLAC member Angela Chen has offered to share some tickets to the Huntington Library. If you'd like to take her up on this generous offer, email her at acpeters@charter.net, or call her at 626-623-0438.
Also, be sure to check out Professional Photographers of California's wonderful one-day classes being presented throughout 2016. There will be tons of great subjects presented, from pet photography to Quickbooks to portraiture, Photoshop, underwater photography, night skies and more. To see the whole list, go to PPC's website ( ppconline.com) and look for California Fundays.
Here's another Don't Miss opportunity to get your CPP certification. Marcy Dugan is giving an exclusive class at her studio from March 19-21. You can take the test after the class is over, or take it at West Coast School.
PPLAC Board Member Karen Nakamura is also having a gathering to share using templates on April 8th. Karen is one of the premiere photographers in the country, and we are so lucky to have her as our own. Take this class-you will learn a LOT. Details follow in this newsletter.
I'd also like to mention that PPLAC member Rusty Nelson's amazing photographic work, "100 Years of National Parks: The South" is being featured at the G2 Gallery in Venice. More details follow in this newsletter.
And last but not least, West Coast School. This is a once-in-a-lifetime learning opportunity that PPC presents every single year. You get to spend an entire week with one famous photographer in small, intimate classes. It has changed the lives of many members; do not miss this! More info at ppconline.com.
If any of you ever has any questions or suggestions, please know that I am always available to talk to you, either by email ( marcia@marciagold.com) or by phone (310-377-0215) or at the meetings.
Don't forget to renew your membership. You are a valuable part of this organization, and we welcome your attendance and suggestions.

PPLAC Photo Outing - The Annenberg Space for Photography
PPLAC "Food for Thought" Photo Outing
Get ready to be inspired! This PPLAC "Food for Thought" outing will be a visit to the Annenberg Space for Photography in Century City. The featured exhibit is the work of National Geographic photographer Franz Lanting who presents his interpretation of life on earth from the big bang to the present. The exhibit is entitled, "LIFE: A Journey Through Time". Even though this Outing is a "camera optional" event, you might want to have one handy (or at least in the car) in case you are inspired by the modern high-rise architecture of the location. I've gotten some nice images there. Details: · Date - March 3rd, 2016 · Starting time is 11:00am · Please arrive early. We will want to catch the first video presentation together. · We will meet at the little seating area right next to the Annenberg's entrance doors. Cost: · This Outing is free to all PPLAC members. · There is a $69 fee for non-members. · If a non-member has signed up for the Outing and wishes to join PPLAC prior to or on the day of the Outing, then the $69 fee will be waived.
