Tip of the Month

Dust spots, sensor spots and general dirty are now easily seen using Lightroom 5.

To find any spots, click on the spot removal tool (Q). Just below your image, you will see the words "visualize spots" and it will have a clickable box and a slider that move left and right. Click on the box and move the slider to the right to see more spots, and left to see less. It's very easy to use, and useful to clean disastrous spots and specks.

Greetings!

Our November Digital Image Competition did not disappoint. The images submitted for the final competition was amazing! This made the judging difficult, and the judges really had to battle amongst themselves picking Best of Categories and Best of Show, but in the end, we congratulate Kristi Elias for her Best of Show winner!

Please note that we do not have a December meeting due to the holidays, but keep in mind our next meeting is on January 22, 2015 and we will unveil our Photographers of the Year awards and overall Photographer of the Year for the 2014 year.  You will not want to miss out, as the final points are extremely close in a few categories.  This meeting will be our Open House, and we will have some giveaways, silent auction items, like a 2015 West Coast School certificate. We will also be serving a buffet dinner in appreciation of our members.  The festivities will start at 6:30pm so mark your calendars now.

As we wrap up 2014, I would like to thank our 2014 Board Members and committee members, as it is the efforts and contributions of time from these great people, that make PPLAC the great organization it is today, so Thank You!

And with that in mind, we are in need of a few more volunteers to help us hit the ground running in 2015.  If you have the need to get involved and help us during the year, we welcome you.  If you are interested, please email or call either myself or Sharon.  Remember, our organization is only as good as the volunteers who assist.

And don't forget that if you are interested in entering the PPC State Photographic Image Competition, entries open on 12/9/14 and the last day to submit your entries is 1/9/2015.  The PPC competition is on January 20, 2015 in Redondo Beach. For additional information and rules, go to www.ppconline.com.

We, the Board, would like to wish each and everyone a safe and very Happy Holiday and we look forward to seeing you in 2015!

So have a great month, and get out there and shoot some amazing images.

Mel Carll

2014 PPLAC President
Reminder: there's no meeting in December
Our next event is the Open House!

CURRENT PPLAC MEMBERS ONLY are encouraged to bring up to four (4) printed images no larger than 16 x 20 to the Open House for display.
These images can be of ANYTHING...(framed or not) and they will ALL be eligible for the Judge's Choice Award that evening!
