Wow, were those some awesome images submitted in our Digital Image Competition during our July general meeting. And the judging and comments were more than on point, and in the end, congrats to Kristi Elias for her Best of Show portrait.  We have one more DPC in November, and then we wait to see who our Photographers of the Year will be.

Our upcoming August meeting will be amazing, as we welcome back Canon Explorer of Light, Ken Sklute.  Ken has been doing some amazing work storm chasing among other things, so it will be very interesting to see what Ken shares with the group in August.  This should be an exciting and informative evening for our members and guests.

In case you missed the July meeting, we announced another great workshop as our own Bob Young will present a Focus Stacking workshop on Sunday, October 5th from 1pm to 5pm at Bob's studio.  The cost will be $29 and only the first 15 to signup and pay will experience this amazing afternoon.  Please contact Sharon Lobel ASAP if you are interested, as this is a first come, first serve workshop.  And also just a reminder that the upcoming portrait workshop with George DeLoache on August 3rd is currently FULL, but we are taking a waiting list in case someone is unable to attend.  And speaking of meetings, this is just a heads up that our September general meeting will be on the 3rd Thursday, September 18th instead of the normal 4th Thursday.

Please remember to check out our Facebook page, as we will use that as a way of announcing special safaris, software offers and news from the photography world.  And speaking of software, we have a couple of discounts to offer our members.  If you are interested in the Photomatix HDR software, you can use the discount code PPLACHDR25 at checkout, and save 25% off their products.  Also if you are interested in some of the new Mac software from MacPhun, use the code MEL2014 at checkout for a 10% off their new products Intensify Pro, Snapheal Pro and FX Photo Studio Pro.  These are some of the same people responsible for the great products from Nik Software prior to being sold to Google.

For those thinking about upcoming trips, the PPC roadshow will be October 11-13 in Mammoth and is open to all photographers.  Please see the PPC website for additional information.

So have a great month, and get out there and shoot some amazing images.
