REFLECTOR OCTOBER 2013
happy-halloween2.jpg

Greetings!

Its finally here; yes, I'm talking about FALL.  This is probably my favorite time to plan trips out of town to shoot spectacular images of landscape with early morning mist, farmers stacking up for the winter, and perhaps an early snow shower-- so expect a Photo Safari.  (Not on the list?  Request to be added:
Bob Young at bypjsm@sbcglobal.net).

I was talking to a new member the other day, and they asked me where  I my photography knowledge;  I replied by hanging out with other photographers.  It's an old saying, but a true fact,  "You are who your friends are", and what better place to find them than here at PPLAC.  Over the years, I have witnessed members joining our group and entering image competitions. In the beginning, they're  barely meriting images-- but only after a few short years, they now have prints in loan collections, which only proves to me that saying is so true.

Now is a great opportunity to get involved by volunteering.  And, even though I will be stepping down as President next year, I hope to reinstate our popular "GTG" Get ToGethers--  is a small gathering of  10 to15 paid members at my studio once a month to exchange ideas and knowledge.  GTG was very popular in the past, so watch out for details. In the meantime, dust off your hiking gear and go out and shoot some great images!

Cheers,

Bob Young

September Meeting RECAP

Thanks to Master Photographer Alan Mayer and instructor Ramiro Gaytan for a jam-packed evening.  Alan lit a candle on the amazing LayerCake software's "Studio Magic Cutout Panel" using photos from PPLAC's Ramiro Gaytan's "live" photo shoot that evening. A huge thank you to Ramiro Gaytan for the simple demonstration of beginning to end process of creating a great image!

They made dropping in the model, cutting away fly-away hair, adding shadows, and painting light as simple as using an Easy Bake Oven!

Thank you, Robert Reiter, for all the great meeting photos!
