Greetings!
I kept asking myself 'When will autumn ever get here?'-- but I didn't wait. I called Duane Murphy and his wife, and said, "I'm out'a here!" His response was, "Where and when?"" I told him this coming Friday, and he said to count them in.
Little did we know a couple of hundred miles from here, it was autumn and we were camping out at 10,800 feet in the cold cold ..... very cold. Did I mention it was cold?-- but also loads of fun with some great photo opportunities. We started in Bishop then headed up the mountain to Bishop Creek and then up Rock Creek Road. For the last night, we went to Bristlecone Pines.
That's what it takes: Packing your gear and, no matter how adverse the weather is, just get out there and do it! Little did we know Mel Carll and Dan Holmes (CIPPA) had just done the same thing-- and Dan was still out there freezing his buns off. We didn't bump into them, but I did talk to Dan at length at the PPC roadshow and he said it was a blast .... but cold.

October Meeting Recap:
Last month's Halloween-themed monthly meeting screamed scary success-- commercial photographer Joel Grimes inspired the crowd with his presentation, "The Creative Revolution". Joel urged us to be artists, not technicians. "Your uniqueness is the single greatest asset you possess as an artist... Experiment... Build a body of work shooting something you love." Joel's unique composites are created from intriguing HDR backgrounds and studio portraits perfected by 'sculpting with light'. You can see and learn from his work at joelgrimes.com and joelgrimesworkshops.com. Joel also is slated to teach next June at PPC's West Coast School in San Diego.
The evening grabbed the gang with deadly decorations, ghoulish goodies, and a creepy costume contest complete with tempting 'treats' for the winners. A devilishly good time was had by all!
A spooooky 'thank you' to Sharon Lobel for the haunting Halloween decorations and ghostly goodie bags-- and to Marcia Gold for her 'spell'-binding spread of sumptuous sweets and dangerous decs!
