Hartford, CT 06106                                                                       VOLUME 125

Can my boss fire me for being too attractive?

Yes he can, even though this may seem like gender discrimination.  The Iowa Supreme Court has now held- and confirmed- that a dentist who fired an attractive employee at the request of his wife was within his rights as an employer. Click here to read more. The fired employee claimed that she was discriminated on the basis of her gender, as presumably the situation would not have occurred if she were male.  The Iowa court held that because the termination was based on the employer's desire to placate his wife and not motivated by discriminatory intent, he was not liable for gender discrimination.
