Not to us, Lord, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.
Psalm 115:1 (NIV)
Dear Harding Family,
Welcome back! We have been blessed with a very smooth and exciting start to another year at Harding Academy. It is so nice to have life back in our hallways and classrooms. If you are new to the Harding family I pray that you have been welcomed and embraced as a vital part of our school community. Transitioning to a new school can be very intimidating, so if there is anything we can do to help please do not hesitate to call. Whether you have been with us for many years or for one week; whether your child is enrolled at Cordova, White Station, or Cherry Road; every student and every family is woven together into the unique tapestry that is Harding Academy and we are very thankful that you are here.
Our theme for this year is the Latin phrase Soli Deo Gloria (Glory to God Alone). It is our desire to bear witness to the fact that everything we have and do is for God's glory and for the expansion of His Kingdom. As always we are guided by three important questions:
1. Does this honor and glorify God?
2. Is it done with excellence and purpose?
3. Is this in the best interest of the students we serve?
We believe that if we can answer these questions with a resounding YES, then God will continue to bless and guide our future.
As a parent of three children enrolled at Harding, I know that the beginning of a new school year brings information overload! However, I did want to update you on a few important things. First, it is evident after just one week that iPads are transforming how our teachers teach and how our students learn. While there have been (and will be) some challenges, the feedback from everyone has been overwhelmingly positive. Our teachers are to be commended for their swift integration of this important technology, and our students for their excitement as they embrace this enormous change. Lower School iPad minis will be delivered to classrooms soon and we are excited to see how they will transform learning for our younger students as well.
When you come to our first home football game on Friday, September 13, you may want to bring some sunglasses. Our new stadium lights are in and you will not believe the difference. Work on our new track is scheduled to begin today, and weather permitting, will be completed in just two weeks. Lastly, expect to see some new signs at the front entrance of our Cherry Road campus sometime in October.
I hope that you are as energized as I am to see the many positive things that are happening at Harding Academy. The Spirit of God is alive and active in this place and will continue to bless our efforts if we do everything for His honor and glory. Thank you for entrusting your children to us, and thank you for being a part of our school community.
It is going to be a great year!
In Christ, Mr. Williamson
