As you may have noticed, Niner has a new crew of athletes out at the races. It is true, as a part of our newly expanded racing program, we are sponsoring two squads - CLIF Bar MTB and Cyclocross and another project that we will give you complete details on soon...
As a part of this semi-secret second project, we now have rider and all-around great person Chloe Woodruff racing on the Jet 9 RDO and the Air 9 RDO frames. We are excited about this for a number of reasons - one, as a national caliber XC racer, Chloe will help us to make great choices when it comes to new race bike development. Two, as a 5'2" woman, she will help us to develop the best possible bikes for smaller riders and female riders (see her size XS Jet 9 RDO above). And finally, we are excited because Chloe is a great ambassador, doing everything she can to give back and share the sport of mountain biking with other riders.
This past week, she demonstrated that commitment by racing the 24 hours of Old Pueblo with a team of high school league riders. "My first race was at the 24 Hours of Moab as a junior racer, and I had a great time" said Chloe. "It was a lot of fun to race with a team of young women who are the age I was when I started out." Joining Chloe on her team were young riders Demi Alexander (Cave Creek, AZ), Angelina Davis (Sierra Vista, AZ) and Phoebe Teskey (Prescott, AZ). Angelina drew the great picture at the top of this article. They raced as "Team Woodruff - AHSCL" (Arizona High School Cycling League).
We think that it is great to see a top athlete like Chloe return to her roots, and share the fun of MTB with young riders. Not only did everyone have a great time, but Chloe also set the fastest lap of the day for the women on her Jet 9 RDO. We look forward to seeing what she does with the rest of her season! Welcome to Niner, Chloe!
