I have a few questions for all of you who read these emails. I also have a few answers, and quite possibly a solution.
If you are ready to be real with your answers, the solution may be just what the doctor ordered and we will deliver that to you on a silver platter. One last thing: My Grandmother told me that "the only person you cheat when you can't add while playing golf is yourself." Same applies here.
If your answers are honest, the solution becomes easier. Ready?
You are a business owner, a key employee, the Sales Manager - maybe one, all three, or something in between. If you weren't you probably would not get this email blast.
So, what keeps you up at night? What scares you about your business or employer? Making payroll? Paying yourself? The health of the company? The economy? Are you going to get laid off? How to sell more product or services? That you watched the Walking Dead at 10PM? The last one is a joke, but you get the gist of it.
So what is it? Insert that here: _________________________.
The next question to ask yourself is "why?". Why does__________ keep me up at night or why am I thinking about _________ on my day off?
Is it in your authority to fix it or have you simply assumed the problem for the company and internalized it? How did it get that way and how do you go about fixing it? If it keeps you awake at night you will want to solve that one right quick.
This is all upbeat stuff right?! Good times... "thanks" Pete! But seriously - check this out:
If you just answered those questions truthfully you have taken a step in identifying your PAIN.
Human beings do not like pain and we will do just about anything to avoid it. But, it catches up with us, eventually. Drill down in to those answers and you will find subsets. Write them down. Make a voice note about them. Document them somehow. Now take action.
Here is where we can help you out but you have to commit and act:
Next Tuesday, July 22, is the Best Practices Business Seminar, 9:30 am - 2 pm at Novella's New Paltz. Bring your documentation and we will do our best to ease your pain.
Why is it free? It's free because we know that helping you find a solution to your pain will result in better business practices and a more successful you. That results in a stronger business community, which in turn, helps the
New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce
satisfy one of its' core objectives.
Now I'm going to answer the above questions for you from my standpoint as the Executive Director of the
New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Q: What keeps me up at night?
A: I see business owners, key personnel, and employees struggling and I know that we can help them or that we can give them a forum to voice their concerns and gain perspective and get answers.
Q: Why does it keep me up at night?
A: The Chamber is committed to helping solve the problems that affect our business community in order to make the collective business community better.
Q: Is it in my authority to fix this problem?
A: Indirectly, yes it is. A reason that Chambers of Commerce exist is to be able to assist business owners and Members better their professional lives, grow their businesses, and assist them as their businesses mature.
Q: How did it get that way?
A: I don't know, but we are taking action on it.
See you on Tuesday at 10AM at Novella's!
