Nurturing Community For Over A Century.
Connect.  Communicate.  Collaborate.

Last week was a very busy week and this week looks no different. As I state to many of you reading this in emails and on the phone, "busy is good." We did some dividing and conquering last week. While I volunteered to watch the 8th Hole at the Dutchess Golf and Country Club for a charity outing on Monday, Helen conducted a Ribbon Cutting at the new bike shelter. We did the same routine on Thursday. On Wednesday we had a table at the Southern Saratoga Chamber of Commerce "Retire Right" Expo in Clifton Park. Interspersed with these events are meetings regarding the New Paltz Challenge Run, the Taste of New Paltz, and the 2014 "Take It Out On A Titleist" Golf Outing amongst other things.

This week there is a planning meeting for the  HYPE- the Huguenot Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs, who will be having their own golf outing this year. I'll leave the details to them, but I know that I will be there and it will be illuminating. We are holding our second Flash Mixer tomorrow, May 21st at Mariners on the Hudson from 5:30-7:30 PM. On Thursday, after not one, but two meetings at SUNY New Paltz, I will be going to Stratton Air Force Base in the Capital District to help our friends at the Southern Saratoga Chamber of Commerce pull a C-130 Hercules by hand. Yes, no typo here, by hand. Feel free to donate to their cause.  If I'm late arriving for work on Friday, it's because my back betrayed me and I'm seeing Dr. Ness on an emergency basis.

In addition, we have three exciting projects in the works, two of which are being mentioned for the very first time right here and now.

Cupcakes and Conversation
is going to start in mid-June. This is a discussion group that will be conducted at Moxie Cup from 9:15-10:15 AM and is by invitation only. It is an informal meeting at which we can discuss issues that we are facing in the region. It could be the economy, politics, the Chamber, or whatever direction that the group takes it. Different Chamber Members will be invited each month. Keep an eye on your in box or mailbox!

12 at 12!
will commence in July. We are going to invite 12 Members who we don't see very much to this monthly meeting and will invite their feedback on the Chamber. Why don't we see you?  What could we improve? What better way than to have a frank discussion about how we, the current Chamber staff, want to work to make your business and our community better?

On July 8th, the Best-selling author and speaker Glenn Shepard will present the half-day seminar "How to Supervise People and Lead a Team", based on one of his books, How to Manage Problem Employees. The seminar takes place at the Wiltwyck Golf Club, 404 Steward Lane, Kingston, NY 12401 on Tuesday morning, July 8 from 8:30 to noon. I saw Glenn in Albany this January and I can assure you that you do not want to miss this. I took six pages of notes! Space will fill up fast, for sure. Go to our website and register for this illuminating seminar!

Have a great day!
