MARKET YOUR ENTERPRISE IN OUR CHAMBER WINDOWS

A Great FREE Benefit for our Chamber members

awning Each day thousands of cars and a multitude of walkers pass by our office and, as I look out each day from the inside at 33 Union Street, I am reminded of a great marketing benefit available to all our Chamber members.

As a member of our Chamber, you have the opportunity to market your enterprise in one of our front display windows for completely free as one of your benefits of being a part of the Greater Easthampton Chamber.  I see the windows as especially valuable to our members who may not have their own storefront locations or those out of town members wishing to expand their marketing area.

Availability of the windows is on a first come, first served basis and, whenever possible, we can try to schedule your minimum of a two week use to coincide with a special promotion or event that you need to highlight.  We light the windows every evening and almost anything you wish to promote can be placed in them.

Are you interested in partaking in this great, free, benefit?  Give us a call at the office, 413-527-9414 or email us at info@easthamptonchamber.org to discuss your display and availability of this great way for additional marketing at no charge.

We hope to see your display in our windows in the future!

Member Spotlight: Dr. Nora E. Hanke, PC

Dr. Nora E. Hanke has been practicing pediatric medicine in Easthampton since 2000. She became board certified in pediatrics in 1996.

In contrast to the trend of group practices, Dr. Hanke has remained an independent pediatrician. She has been at the forefront   of medical trends by using an electronic medical record since she opened. In 2014, Dr. Hanke also started to offer her patients online medical record access through a patient portal.

Though in large practices a given doctor is often present only 3-4 days
a week, and after-hours calls may be handled by a nurse service, Dr
Hanke offers almost daily availability. Office hours are available every
weekday and most Saturday mornings, and she usually personally responds to after-hours telephone calls.

Dr. Hanke enjoys looking after children from birth through their teens, and sees a number of children whose parents are former patients.

This summer, Dr. Hanke hopes to start offering nutrition and cooking

Member News:  2014 RSI Auction Success!

The tenth annual "Taste the Arts, Taste the Eats, Taste the Beat" Silent and Live Auction fundraiser for Riverside Industries, Inc. took place on Friday, April 4. RSI is a nonprofit that serves people with developmental disabilities and their families.

The event raised over $85,000 funds for operations and accessible technology. The event, which included silent and live auctions and other entertainment, was sponsored by a wide variety of local businesses, and food and drinks were donated by many local restaurants.

RSI provides services to about 265 clients and their families living in 33 cities and towns in the tri-county area. Many of these clients are employed in area businesses, and others are engaged in therapeutic activities and training programs at the organization's Cottage Street building in Easthampton.

To make additional donations to RSI, go to their website at www.rsi.org.

Board Member Profile: Patrick Brough

Each issue, we'll do a brief profile on a Chamber Board Member.

NAME: Patrick Brough

JOB TITLE/COMPANY: Commercial Lines Sales, Finck & Perras Insurance Agency

YEARS WITH CHAMBER; POSITIONS/OFFICES HELD: Nine years. Held position of Vice President and President from 2012-2014

YEAR YOUR BUSINESS STARTED: 1935

WHAT YOU DO: I help people get insurance for their business. I work with people who are just starting as well as those who have been in business for years. Insurance is something that many think is boring and they wish they did not need it. I try to help people understand the product they are buying and why they need it.

EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND: I have been working in the insurance business for ten years. There was an opportunity for me to start when Dick Perras was looking to hire a new salesperson. I had no experience in the industry but was looking for a career change. I had known Dick Perras for several years, as my wife is a partner in the agency. I have been there for ten years now and really enjoy working with the people in our office.

SOMETHING THAT OTHERS MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU: I am a big fan of social media. I have used it to help our business and our community grow. I started the "Easthampton Good News Page" on Facebook to help shine a positive light on the city of Easthampton four years ago, and it has grown well beyond what I thought it would. I am an avid photographer who likes to take pictures of just about anything. I was born in Rockville, Conn. Other little-known fact: I hate bugs in general.

Chamber Update: Our Speaker Series 2014

The Chamber is pleased to announce the successful start of our new 2014 Speaker Series
. This is a new member benefit offered to help our member businesses become successful through developing their skills in marketing, public relations, workforce development and other important areas.

The series began with three workshops offered January through March by member Liz Provo of Mass Marketing Resources on social media and email marketing, attended by over 60 business owners. The sessions were hosted by Chamber member Innovative Business Systems in its Easthampton training facility, and were very well received by participants, who had the opportunity to network and learn from one another.

Future sessions being planned for  2014 are a presentation by the Franklin Hampshire Career Center on workforce grants available to businesses through state trust funds; a workshop on preparing press releases; and an additional workshop by Liz Provo on online event management. You'll receive a separate email about each event as it becomes available.

If you would like to offer a presentation or workshop, host one of these sessions, or suggest topics for future sessions that are of interest to you, please contact Eric Snyder at 527-9414.
