Member/Area News: First Annual Easthampton WinterFest Seeking Sponsors
The first annual Easthampton WinterFest will take place Feb. 7-8 (snow dates: Feb. 14-15) at various indoor and outdoor locations throughout Easthampton. Sponsored by a collaboration between the Nashawannuck Pond Steering Committee and Chamber member Easthampton City Arts+, the Winterfest will feature family activities and showcase Easthampton's cultural and natural resources.
Sponsored in part by a grant from the Mass. Cultural Council, most events are free or available by small donations that will benefit the Nashawannuck Pond. The event is expected to draw many visitors to Easthampton and offer area businesses an opportunity for additional exposure, and will hopefully become an annual celebration.
"Last year, despite the Storm Nemo postponement, our Historical Ice Harvest on the pond was very well received. We began thinking that we should create a day long winter celebration. Everyone is also very excited about the long-awaited Nashawannuck Pond movie World Premier," says Liz Provo, Nashawannuck Pond Steering Committee Member.
"ECA+ is excited to partner with the Nashawannuck Steering Committee in hosting WinterFest. It's a great way to bring the Easthampton community together to share in winter celebrations, food, culture, and, fun," says Burns Maxey, ECA+ Coordinator.
Become a Sponsor by Jan. 31.
The event requires many supporters, volunteers and sponsors. Sponsor support will also help to fund the various pond projects that are in progress on behalf of the community such as maintenance of the Gabion Weir, Broad Brook siltation, and ongoing invasive species control. Sponsor levels are Gold, Silver, Bronze, In-Kind, and Ad or Logo Sponsor, ranging rom $75 to $1,000. A sponsor application can be found online at
Friday kickoff. The event will kick-off at the Easthampton High School Auditorium on Feb. 7 from 7-9 p.m. featuring "The Story of Nashawannuck Pond," the premier showing of a movie about Easthampton's centrally located pond, produced by ECAT (Easthampton Community Access). Following the movie, enjoy tango, fire dance, Indian dance and more, in venues throughout the City including Luthier's Co-op, Glory of India, and PopCorn Noir.
