m the first Art in the Orchard in 2011, showing new creations, and ten new artists will make their Park Hill debut. In addition to the sculpture park, events and performances will be scheduled most weekends at the orchard. Two nationally acclaimed guest artists, Michael Melle and Robert Cole, will display their sculptures as well.
Art in the Orchard is the brainchild of Park Hill Orchard owners Alane Hartley and Russell Braen, and Easthampton gallery owner Jean-Pierre Pasche. Pasche dreamed of recreating an outdoor sculpture exhibit like the one set in alpine meadows near his hometown of Bex, Switzerland. Hartley and Braen wanted to have their farm play an active part in the local cultural economy, to "connect culture with agriculture,"as they say. "We've always pictured our working fruit farm as a 'fruit park,'where people in the community hold and participate in all kinds of events like birding walks, apple picking, and sculpture exhibitions."
The 2011 Art in the Orchard was recognized by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, which awarded Art in the Orchard one of its three annual Gold Star Awards, out of more than 5,000 projects funded annually by local cultural councils statewide.

Making Moves: Web-tactics, inc. Moves to Historic Shop Row The Chamber congratulates Web-tactics, inc., a web design company, which will be completing its move from 251 Northampton Street to 83 Main Street in Easthampton, on August 1.
Web-tactics' new office location, to the right of Taylor Real Estate, is in Easthampton's historic Shop Row. The building dates back to the mid-1800s and is the oldest office building in Easthampton. The new office space boasts historic features, such as exposed brick walls, tin ceilings and original maple wood floors. Owner Janel Jorda began looking for new office space when her business started doubling in size, and she is very excited about her new location. "The new space will better serve my clients, and the Easthampton downtown area will provide greater visibility for our growing company," she said. "While I was searching for space, I had been driving by the few empty storefronts on Main Street and thinking that Easthampton has such a beautiful downtown. I'm glad that Web-tactics will now add to the variety of business on that block-restaurants, optician, florist, real estate, and now web design-and help to support the vitality of that area." Chamber member Mantis Graphics produced new signage for both the inside and outside of the new space. Janel plans to hold a future Chamber networking event in her new office, as well as an open house later in August. In business since 2004, Web-tactics emphasizes simple, effective and affordable web design. Find them at www.web-tactics.com or contact Janel at jpjorda@web-tactics.com or 413-341-3355.
