Member Spotlight - Fran's Fine Editing
|

Fran Fahey is sole proprietor of Fran's Fine Editing, offering editing, proofreading and copy writing services to businesses and individuals. She started her business in March of 2008, after retiring from a 33+ year career in human resource management. After two years of building her business in Berkley, MA, she moved to Easthampton in September, 2010 and joined the Chamber and the Women Business Owners' Alliance.
Fran has edited manuscripts, e-books, screenplays, reports, and catalogs; designed brochures; and written copy for ads, marketing letters, and newsletters. Two of her specialties are working with web designers to write copy for new or revised websites, and applying her HR background to create resumes and cover letters. For 2011, she is planning her website blog and will help others in writing their blogs. In Berkley, Fran served as the Communications Coordinator for the Women's Business Network of Southeastern MA, and was a member of two other networking groups and the local Chamber.
Fran enjoys doing business in the Valley because she likes being part of a small, intimate business community where everyone is supportive of one another. She is grateful to the Chamber for their help in getting her business started locally and making connections with others. "I walked into the Chamber office the week I moved here, met Eric and Denise, went to a Networking by Night event, put an ad in the Directory the next month, and got my first local customer two weeks later. How easy is that?" she said. "Seriously, networking has been hard work, but it is the core of a small business such as mine. Word of mouth, giving and getting referrals, are what have helped me most to grow my reputation."
Would you like your business to be featured in a future Member Spotlight? Contact the Chamber office and we will put you on the list.

Member News - Greening One Cottage Street

Riverside Industries Inc. is embarking on a new project, Windows of Opportunity. Phase one of their mission will be to install energy efficient windows throughout the facility. Riverside has replaced 288 of its 903 windows. Greening One Cottage Street, by replacing the remaining 615 windows, seeks to ensure environmental responsibility, improve one of Easthampton's cornerstone buildings, project a message of hope and optimism to all members of the community, save over $40,000 annually in energy costs, and improve the physical well-being and comfort of Riverside clients.
As Riverside's base, One Cottage Street has been good to both Riverside and to its local communities. One Cottage Street is one of the cornerstone buildings of Easthampton, located at the edge of Nashawannuck Pond at the juncture of Union and Cottage Street. Built in the 1800s, it once housed thriving mill businesses. Today it is a visible symbol of the opportunity to reinvent the past with new and innovative vitality. One Cottage Street is not only the hub for services to people with developmental disabilities; it also provides studio space for over 60 artists and small businesses, making it a flourishing arts community and a source for economic vitality for the region.

Member News - Santa's Trains at Look Park
Children of all ages had a chance to meet Santa in his Workshop and explore a magical, whimsical wonderland, combining model railroading and New England village landscapes. The Garden House, transformed into a Victorian Train Station, offered sights and sounds to capture the essence of the holiday season. New in 2010, Look Park welcomed a special group of volunteers, The Pioneer Valley "S" Gaugers, to Santa's Workshop. This group of dedicated "S" model train collectors and enthusiasts generously donated their time and efforts to set up an excellent model train display at the Garden House. This display was up and running each and every day of the workshop. A representative from the group was also present each night to operate the display and answer questions about their craft.
