Electronically Speaking Welcome to our first electronic version of the Greater Easthampton Chamber of Commerce Newsletter.
In our continuing efforts to "go green", the Chamber Board and Marketing Committee have developed this new format to not only save our valuable natural resources, but to enhance our ability to spread the word about our Chamber members, plus Chamber events and programs.
Our new enewsletter will provide readers additional access to our members through our "Find A Member" link to our website member directory. Our "Growth is Great" section provides a listing of our newest Chamber members and links to their websites. We will soon initiate a Chamber News Advertising Program that will give members an ad presence in the newsletter and link readers to their websites. Plus, members will soon be able to have electronic "inserts" placed in the newsletter to announce upcoming special events, programs and promotions.
As in the past, you will find information on our monthly Networking by Night Business Card Exchange and Chamber activities and, if you wish, you can print out flyers and registration forms to post or forward to your staff or folks interested in attending Chamber functions. Please download latest Adobe Reader by following the link on the left if you are having trouble opening our links.
As we progress, there will be a few tweaks and changes to better serve and inform you. The Marketing Committee invites your feedback, so please feel free to email your suggestions to me at info@easthamptonchamber.org and I will forward your ideas.
We are excited about this latest effort in communicating with you and hope you will find this new format valuable and informative!

Member Spotlight - Easthampton Savings Bank | |
ESB President Bill Hogan | Easthampton Savings Bank has been a landmark in Easthampton since 1869. As a community bank, the "bread and butter" of their operations, according to bank president Bill Hogan, are deposits and lending. What people might not know is that ESB also has a financial services office down the street at 62 Main, where financial planners can help customers manage assets, plan for retirement, and make investment and insurance decisions.
"Our heart and roots are in Easthampton," says Hogan. He believes that the bank needs to "be there" for the community and give generously to arts, educational, and cultural groups. The bank also helps businesses thrive in the area through lending that fosters growth.
About the Greater Easthampton Chamber of Commerce, Hogan says, "The Chamber is the heart and soul of the business community." Member businesses are more strong and vibrant as a collective in which the "sum is greater than the parts." ESB was a founding member of the Chamber.
Hogan views greater Easthampton as a "great community" that has changed a lot over the years. He remembers when the mill workers would come in on Thursdays to cash their checks. As the mills closed and are now being revitalized with new industries, the banking experience has changed as well. Fewer people come in to the bank, but total transactions have increased due to electronic technologies. Always on the cutting edge, the bank has added a Facebook page for outreach and marketing that has over 1,000 fans and counting.
Would you like your business to be featured in a future Member Spotlight? Contact the Chamber office and we will put you on the list. |

Area News - Easthampton Celebrates 225!
From the very young to the very old, all segments of the community turned out to ride, march, or pedal in the parade, a highlight of the four-day celebration. With an estimated crowd of 4,000-5,000, many said they had never before seen such a large parade in the city. Many expressed liking the positive direction Easthampton is going.
The celebration continued through the entire weekend with a music fest and an all day event at Nonotuck Park. Food, music, games and rides filled the park with a new energy.
Congratulations to the committee and their volunteers for a successful celebration!
