It's a new year with new opportunities and adventures!
Fly fishing comes to S bar F Scout Ranch this summer, courtesy of a generous gift from a friend of the BSA Certified Angler Instructor Program. The gift provided for the purchase of 25 fly rods and reels, fly line, and fly tying kits (left). As a result, the Fly Fishing merit badge will be offered at The Ranch, and the equipment can be reserved for use by other campers and units.

 Ready to take your training to the next level? Why not try Wood Badge? Wood Badge is advanced training for adult leaders and is designed to enhance contemporary leadership skills and develop more effective Scouters. The program, a two-weekend course, gives participants a greater understanding of Scouting aims and methods, while developing true Scout spirit.  There are a variety of programs available for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts at the Gateway Arch and Old Courthouse. Some are available year-round, making it an excellent choice for indoor fun during the winter months. Many workshops are free and designed to fulfill advancement requirements. Facilitated by National Park Service rangers, all programs are approximately one hour in length, and a three-week advanced reservation is required.  Did you see the council emblems created for this summer's national jamboree? The five shoulder patch designs each depict a notable monument or location within the council. Cooking Merit BadgeEffective Jan. 1, 2014, the Cooking merit badge is required to obtain Eagle Scout rank. Scouts beginning the merit badge prior to Jan. 1 may use the current requirements.
